Our story takes place in Pallet town as we look on as 5 year old Ash Ketchum is playing in his room when his mother calls him downstairs. Ash rushes downstairs, holding the toy charizard he was playing with in his hand as he stops in front of his mother Delia, a fall auburn haired women who is around 25 years old.
Delia:Ash a package came for you.
Ash:What is it Mom?
Delia:I don't know, I haven't opened it yet. I wanted you to do that.
She hands him the small package as he tears it open. Inside is a blue book with no title or any identification of who it is from.
Delia:What is it Ash?
Ash:I'm not sure. It looks like a book but there isn't anything on it.
Delia:Try opening it.
He does so as he opens the book and inside on the front page is a message.
Message:Inside this book is everything a pokemon master will need. The types of pokemon that roam our world, the different ways of raising and caring for them and more importantly the guidelines to becoming a master of Aura. Let the Aura guardians live on.
Delia is shocked at this. The only time she heard about aura guardians was from her late husband, Red who was one of if not the greatest of their time. Unfortunately he passed away using his abilities to stop and evil man and she had not wanted Ash to go down that route. But this book appearing told her that it was out of her hand.
Delia:Dear, I think you should read it.
The boy looked at his mother and was a bit confused as she continued.
Delia:This book can help you become the pokemon master you truly want to be.
Ash's eyes beamed at this. His dream to be the very best like no one ever was could become true and all it took was a book. He couldn't pass it up as he told Delia that he would. For about 4 years Ash had been reading the book every day, revising the battle techniques listed in it and the information about all the pokemon in the world. However the part of the book that he had been focusing on more were the sections about aura guardians. He had learned how to identify aura from other living beings and but he struggled with harnessing the aura to his will. Ash was determined to get a handle of his abilities before his journey started as the book instructed him to. During his studies of the book he got a job as working as Professor Oak's assistant which was extremely beneficial as the Professor allowed him to interact with the various different pokemon he had at the lab. This allowed him to note down different behavioural factors that the book didn't list such as how the Nidoran line was naturally aggressive whilst the Caterpie evolutionary line were quite timid creatures. However, it naturally increased his rivalry with Gary Oak as the pair were more intellectual about pokemon then all the other children of Pallet, which made them argue about who was smarter and who would become a pokemon master.
We follow Ash on one of these days where he is interacting with the pokemon as well as writing down information regarding them inside a journal that he had kept to record his aura progress as well record new information about pokemon.
Ash:Onix are sturdy creatures which prefer to stay as far away from water as possible. As such, they prefer more dry areas like caves or sandy landscapes. Their natural enemy is the water type Gyarados so it best to keep them apart from each other.
He leaves the Onix to eat their food in peace as he moves begins to walk towards a group of Pidgey when a feeling of fear washes over him. However, the fear isn't his own. He uses his aura to try and find the source when his head turns towards the forest that is beside the lab. He runs in that direction as the feeling intensified to the point that his head began throbbing with pain but he didn't care, he just wanted to help that being that was in fear. He arrived to a clearing where he saw a large group of brown red feathered bird pokemon that he knew as Spearow.
