Faline whipped the sweat from her forehead as he finished shining his customer's shoes. "Have a nice day," He said, panting from the hot summer sun. The customer threw a coin into his pail, and walked away, even though a single silver coin was not what they agreed on.
"Hey!" Faline yelled, but the customer had already disappeared into the crowd. He sighed, collapsing on the ground. His mask was collecting a pile of sweat under the sun, but he couldn't take it off.
"What's going on?" Ethan San carried a bucket of tomatoes, the San dog, Abbie, following behind him. Faline groaned, "that customer scammed me! I said five coins but the bitch gave me one." He threw up a middle finger at nothing in particular.
"Oooh, tough luck." He placed the tomatoes on the stand, placing them on display.Abbie licked Faline's face.
"Ahhhh Brotheeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrr" Faline pleaded, "can you take over the shoe shining?"
Ethan narrowed his eyes, his face sporting the signature San children mask, "No no, this is payback, for that one time you cUT my hair like those idols! Learn from your mistakes."
Faline sighed dramatically. "Look at me, I'm languishing away, decomposing into nothi-
Mother San walked into view, carrying some grocery bags.
"Oh mom is here." Faline sprinted toward Mother San. "HEY FALINE-" his brother shouted, but he wasn't listening.
"Hey" Her mom shouted at her (Italics is chinese) "Carry this Faline."
Faline took the bag, her face shriveling up in disgust from the smell, "Ama, what is this?"
Mother San walked through the door, putting the groceries on the counter. "Potatoes."
"These are terrible potatoes! They are decomposing by the second!"
"Ay, these are the only potatoes we can afford!" Mother San snapped, "This terrible summer is crippling our tomato business."
Faline sighed as she stocked away the potatoes. At the bottom of the bag, he felt a cardboard box. He pulled it out. "Ama, what's this?"
"Oh, it's a toy for you. There were some kits from Earthdom for sale, I got one for you."
"OoOOOh." Faline studied it more. It was a make-your-own teddy bear kit. "Thank you mom!" He said as he rushed to his room to make it.
Ethan groaned in annoyance, "What about the shoe shining?"
Faline was very confused by the teddy bear kit, no wonder it was for sale! He was pretty sure some parts were missing (oops, nevermind he was sitting on it) and he didn't know the first thing about stitching. Nevertheless, he persisted, working through the kit. He sewed the limbs to the body, the ears to the head (These ears are a little big) and violently stabbed the eyes in place. And then to finish it off, he tied the red and green ribbon around his neck.
He walked over to his family. "Oh, your finished?" Mother San asked. He didn't reply, as his diaphragm was too busy limiting sounds of laughter. He showed his creation to his family.
They all immediately burst out laughing. "WAS HE IN AN ACCIDENT?" Mother San asked as Father Son took the bear to inspect further. "The stuffing is leaking," he said, handing it back to him, giggling.
"WHY IS HIS FACE LIKE THAT?"
"WHY IS THERE AN EYE ON THE BACK OF HIS HEAD?" Mother San laughed louder.
"DISASTER! THIS IS A HORROR MOVIE!"
"This arm is okay :D" Faline defended. He earned a wheeze from her mother.
"The only arm that looks like an arm, HIS LEGS!" she cackled, "One long one short!"
Faline walked back to his room, giggling. His mother shouted out, "It's for 8 year olds 8 YEAR OLDS!"
"I DON'T THINK ANY 8 YEAR OLD COULD DO THIS!" he yelled, placing his beloved creation onto the table.
"Whatever," he said, comforting the bear, "Your beau- your fine the way your are. Your name will be, gert."
Like magic, the bear floated into the sky, sparkles twirling all around Faline. The arms twitched, eyes blinked, and Gert grew wings and summoned a fairy wand.
"Hello. I am Gert, and I am your Fairy Godmother."
