"This lecture is going to be the death of me," Soph whispers tapping her nail against the desk. "Well actually, the professors outfit is going to be the death of me, but that's not the point." She jokes.
I giggle at her comment and give up on my intricate note taking, given that I've been spaced out for the last half hour.
I never wanted last night to end, and although my head is killing me, I remember every single thing that happened.
I remember every rough kiss, every pattern his hands roamed in, and the stupid smile he has on his face all night. I miss that smile.
I go on my phone for the last few remaining minutes in the lecture, in hopes time will go by quicker.
After work, the group and I decided to hang out at Nate's house and have a fun dinner night. Which just means Ford and Nate cook while the rest of us pretend to help.
I swipe out of Instagram and see the badge number for my messages go up two notifications. I have, Do Not Disturb, on pretty much all day, so I've come to memorize how many notifications each app has.
A confused expression displays on my face once I see Kai's name at the top of the list.
Slowly, I turn my gaze towards Soph who is already looking at me, biting her nail nervously.
"Soph. How did Kai get my number-"
"I gave it to him, okay! I know I'm sorry, he's just so sweet and genuine and as much as I'm 'Hashtag Team Jack' I couldn't just not give Kai you're number. I mean you're going on a freaking date with him!" She whisper yells, drawing attention from some of our classmates nearby.
I give them a 'sorry we'll shut up' smile and pull Soph into me by her sleeve. "Soph, it's okay. Just next time please ask." I confide.
The truth is, after last night, I'm not sure if I even want to go. But, I was set on exploring things with him, so that's what I'll do.
I decide to read his text later, with how content I feel right now, it's not worth the amount of anxiousness I'll feel once I read whatever it says.
"Ugh! So much for clowning on the 'bachelorette bullshit', I kinda want in it now!" Soph whines.
"You don't, promise me." I reply placing my computer in my white woven tote bag, as our professor dismisses the lecture.
"Ooh! You should let Jack and I disguise as different people and spy on your date with Kai!" Shaking my shoulders, her eyes fill with plead and I can't help but let another loud chuckle escape my mouth.
Soph and I finish grabbing our things and head over to my Bronco, just outside of the courtyard.
"I hate to break it to you, but usually people only do that in movies. And plus, you're not supposed to tell me you're doing it." I reply, digging in my back pocket for my keys."Mm, true. Okay I won't tell you then. Pretend this convo never happened." She winks opening the passenger door and hopping in.
I shake my head and before getting in with her , I spot a folded note tucked into my windshield wiper.
"Which boy is it from?" Soph sings as she hoists herself up on my sidestep and leaning on the roof.
"Shut up!" I giggle, taking the note and unfolding it.
hi pretty girl. thank you for teaching me what butterflies feel like. see you tonight

My heart melts to the pavement of the parking lot and I reread the note multiple times to make sure it doesn't accidentally say, "Hey dipshit, you parked in my spot. Have fun dealing with a tow company." But it doesn't.
