On top of a hill, you sat crisscrossed with your boyfriend's head in your lap. You had been running your fingers through the soft, snowy colored locks, occasionally making a small braid or two before brushing it back out with your fingers. He laid there, relaxed, gazing up at the few stars to be seen by the bright Tokyo sky.
Every now and then, his orchid eyes would flicker up at you, admiring how concentrated you were while braiding.
It was a colder night and Izana let you borrow his old Toman jacket that he often kept in the trunk of his car. Everything about your boyfriend's background was amazing to you. From being in a gang to finding out he is half Filipino, he had quite a life and you were always fascinated listening to him talk about it.
"So if no one ever taught you Tagalog, how did you learn to speak it so fluently?" You asked, referring to the common language of the Philippines.
"I taught myself." He replies.
"Yeah but how? It seems like a hard language to learn! I mean Japanese and English aren't easy either but still."
"Mainly books before I started watching videos to learn the pronunciations."
"Hm, that's really impressive." You smile, running your fingers through the last braid.
Izana sits up to face you and kisses you on your cold lips.
"How are your lips so warm?" You say, softly.
"I don't know, I don't really get that cold I guess." He says.
"I'm always cold." You laugh.
"I know, that's why I keep that jacket in the car." He smirks.
You blushed at his words, surprised to hear the real reason he had it in the car. It was something so small but it was the small things that had made you fall in love with him, even though you hadn't officially exchanged those three words yet.
Izana wasn't one to rush. He took his time in everything he did. So even your relationship was less of a sprint and more of a stroll. But you didn't mind, it was the little things that would remind you how big his heart was. Even if he wasn't the best at expressing his feelings verbally, you knew your boyfriend better than anyone else.
"Alright, teach me some Tagalog!" You say happily.
He smiles at you, shaking his head at your cheekiness.
"What do you wanna know?" He asks.
"Hmm...how do you say...hello?"
"Mm...Kamusta." He says, flawlessly switching to a Filipino accent.
"Kamusta?" You repeat back.
"Yep."
"How about...goodbye?"
"Ingat"
You look around, thinking about what to ask next.
"What about cat?" You ask.
"Pusa" He says. You chuckle.
"That one kind of sounds silly!"
"Yeah, it kinda does!" He laughs too.
"Okay so how would you say 'I like cats' then?"
"Gusto Kong Pusa"
"Gusto kung Pusa..."
"No, kong." He corrects you.
"Ahh...gusto kong pusa"
"Yeah, good job babe!" He smiles.
"Hmm...what is something I would probably say a lot?" You ask.
Izana thinks for a moment.
"Grabe! Ang lamig!" He teases.
You look at him totally confused.
"Okay and that means?"
"It's fucking cold outside!" He laughs.
Your jaw drops and you playfully push his shoulder.
"Hmm...and I'd probably tell you something like...Maganda ka." He says, looking at you with glistening eyes.
Your cheeks started to flush. You had no idea what he said but the way he said it sounded so sweet. A part of you wondered if it could possibly mean those three words you had been thinking about.
"It means...you are cute." He says.
Your face somewhat fell, sweet but not those three words. All of a sudden, you found yourself second guessing how you thought he felt about you. Maybe your feelings weren't quite mutual yet.
And still, something inside of you also felt like you wanted to just shout it. You wanted him and the whole world to know how you felt.
You both sat there, quiet for a second. You looked over at him as he looked back up to the night sky. It's like he became more and more beautiful each time you glanced at him.
"So how would you say...I love you." You said, quietly.
Izana looked at you, partially shocked. He then turned his head away as his cheeks became red.
"...Mahal kita" He whispers.
"Mahal kita?" You ask.
"Mhmm..." He replies, his face still hidden from you like a little boy with a crush. You smile at how cute it was.
"Izana..." You say, turning toward him. You brought your knees up burying your face in them shyly. Just like a little girl with a crush. His heart began to flutter at his name coming from your lips. "Mahal kita."
He turned to look at you, noticing how your pretty hair fell across your legs as you shyly hid between them. He felt a peace inside of him as you said these words.
Bringing his hand up to brush your hair behind your ear, he said your name.
You picked your head up and looked at him, his eyes were fixed on you. They looked so dreamy staring back at you that the sparkling ceiling above you was nothing in comparison.
"Mahal kita" He says to you along with your favorite smile. Leaning forward, he kisses you once more but this time, he presses deeper than before as if he was sealing those three words against your lips.
You felt so warm and happy. You must be the luckiest girl in the world.
Izana pulls you into him, bringing his arm around your waist as you lay your head on his shoulder. He rests his head on top of yours. In this moment, you felt like you could conquer the world together.

🖤A/N: Hello everyone! Izana is my favorite TR character so I was excited to write this one. I love him so much 🥹
I would really like to write a whole fanfic for him but I just haven't had any ideas on where to start it yet. Usually all these story ideas randomly pop into my head! So there is no forcing it but I hope something comes to me eventually.
Hope you enjoyed this one! If you did, please leave me a comment and/or vote. It would be so appreciated! 🫶🏻 Thanks for reading.
