🪵╭╯ଘ꒰꒷꒦ JACK KNEW THAT the new hit song, 'mr. perfectly fine' was about him, and so did everyone else. by now, the tension in the family was little to gone. jack is pretty sure they mutually agreed that this was coming for him. almost like karma.
jack himself knew it was coming too. after everything, it was only a matter of time before he finally got what was deserved. although he would never admit it to anyone but himself, he did miss august. but he would never get the chance again.
instead he would have to sit back, watch his older brother get what he wanted. he watched his older brother and his ex girlfriend come out, saying they were together. for quinn and august, it took months to even start having feelings for each other. augustine was still so caught up with jack and quinn just wanted her happy.
augustine looked ten times happier than she did with jack. maybe it was because quinn treated her right.
hell, he treated her even better than jack did. and at first, it was hard to top that. every time jack saw them, he wanted to scream at them. he wanted them to break away from each other. to not be so touchy. he hated it. but he knew it was coming.
august and quinn were one for the books, one with the happy ending.
august and jack were one for a few chapters, one with the pages ripped with dust littered on them.
jack will never do anything to come between quinn and august. he won't because they deserve each other. maybe someday he will be able to find someone. someone who will hopefully never go through what august did.
jack did what he could to be on good terms with august. his whole family, including quinn, told him to apologize, that she is still apart of the family and it's better that they are okay.
so he did. he showed up to her and her brother's apartment on a random day at seven p.m., thinking it was the best time ever for some odd reason. bennett was the one to answer. jack apologized to his teammate first. this time, the apology was sincere.
bennett sighed, looking down before holding a hand out. "truce. im still pissed at you but we will be seeing each other a lot and i dont really want to feel like i need to punch you every time we make eye contact."
ben gave jack a pat on the back. "shes in her room, don't make her cry, please."
jack nodded before going to her room. it was cracked slightly and so he pushed it open. it creaked, causing august to look up from her phone. her eyes widened in surprise.
"..jack, what are you doing here?" she asked.
he inhaled sharply before letting out an apology. it was a long one, one that only they would know what was said. in the end, august stood up and hugged the semi taller boy.
"as hard as it is, i somewhat forgive you. im not there fully." she smiled.
jack gave her a smile back, hugging her again. "congrats by the way, you know, with quinn." he told her.
brushing a hair behind her ear, august smiled at the ground. "thank you. and thank you for apologizing. i dont know how long it will take, but do you want to try and be friends?" she asked.
he nodded.
the story of august and jack was no longer. it was all august and quinn.

authors note not a happy ending for jack but a happy ending for august! poor girl needed one. i hope you guys like this book, ngl it holds a place in my heart. i genuinely liked writing this. time to go to the next book ♡
