Chapter 1: Home Sweet Crime Scene?

We were singing in the car, just Veronica and I, getting home from a long day at the lake. It was about 9:00 PM and the sun was almost all the way set. We were tired, sore from hiking, and VERY sun burnt. We pulled in to town with only two more blocks to drive through to get home, when we were brought to a sudden stop by a police officer. "What are your names and who are your parents?" asked the police officer. "I am Renee Riley, and this is Veronica Heart" I stated trying not to seem startled. "My parents are MacKenzie and John Riley, and her parents are May and Augustus Heart." "Where do you live?" asked the officer. "We live on 1399 Savanna Meadows in the apartment behind our parents houses." "Excuse me, but why is this road blocked off" asked Veronica curiously. "There was a murder at 2456 Maravelle Creek Road, it occurred today at 12:45 pm. By the way, where were you at that exact time?" "We were gone and hanging out at the lake since 8:00 Am this morning. "Thanks for the information, I will escort you home and you can continue your usual evening activities." exclaimed the officer. "Thank you" we replied, and then we were escorted home to get ready for bed. "Renee, is it just me, or are you curious about the murder too" asked Veronica while grabbing her PJ's out of her dresser. "Who in this neighborhood isn't, who would kill such an innocent old lady such as Mrs. Brown? We will probably find out more information tomorrow, lets just try to get some sleep." It was hard to believe that in just a few hours our tiny home town became a crime scene, not to mention a murder scene...
