Chapter 1 The Attack/The new member

Derek's pov

I was running in the woods with my uncle and my sister in wolf form. We were going on a run to just cool off. We were almost home when I caught a scent. Rogues. I told my uncle and sister what I smelled. When we got there we came to a stop to see most of my family fighting in front of the house and the house was on fire. I ran for a rogue that was about to go after my mother. I killed the rogue and continued to kill as many as I could. After most of the rogues retreated, most of them where dead. There was blood and limbs everywhere. I searched for my mother. I found her laying over a pup. My mother breathing was slow and her heartbeat was to quiet to hear it that well even with super hearing. I nudged my mother with my nose. She moved so the pup could move out from under her. I turned into my human form.

"MOTHER!!" I screamed so loud I think I made my own ears hurt. She turned into her human form.

"My pup, beautiful Derek. Take..... care of this pup.... Will you." I had her hand in mine. I had tears going down my face. There was blood on her face and her clothes, she had claw makes on her legs, she had tears running down her face, I tried to take her pain but I couldn't.

"Why can't I take your pain? Mom?"

"I'm.. not in pain. Tell who ever lived that I love them. Keep.... Them.....safe."

4 years later

That was the last words my mother told me before she died. I did everything I could to make sure that me, my uncle, my sister, and Athena made it safe. We made it to a forest. I payed for the land and we made a house that was three floors, it had 12 bathrooms, and 15 bedrooms. It took a while to get it finished, but we got it done. Cora went to finish high school and Peter went to look for a job. Me, I don't know what I'll do. I got recommendations from Peter to work with him but I didn't want to. I was so caught up on keeping them safe that I didn't keep myself safe and healthy. Peter and Cora wouldn't leave me alone about it. But I just ignored them. I cared for Athena. What would I do if I got a job? Athena would be alone. I don't want to leave her alone.

I was walking in the woods when Cora found me. I don't really know what time it is.

"Derek" Cora was behind me. She startled me, I didn't know she was behind me. She probably followed me.

"Yes, Cora?" I just kept walking on the path I made. I made this path when we first got here.

"Peter's an alpha" Cora stopped walking same with me.

"WHAT" I didn't mean to yell that I was just surprised. Cora stepped back a little bit away from me.

"He killed an alpha, trying to protect me and the beta that got bitten by the alpha." She looked down at her feet.

"Sorry I didn't mean to yell sis. Who's the other he was protecting?" I was curious now.

"His name is liam. He's new to all this, same with Peter, there at the house."

I ran to the house, cora right behind me and found Peter there talking to liam I'm guessing that's him?

"Peter?" Peter looked at me.

"Hey Derek." He had a sheepish look on his face. That's a firsts. He never looks like that before, this is new.

"Let me see your eyes" he showed me his eyes, they where crimson red, but there was something else in them. They looked like they had a little of blue in them. What? Why do I see blue? And where did it come from?

"What are you going to do now that your an alpha?" I asked. I was looking at Peter and then looked at Liam.

"Well, I don't know." He looked at Cora than me.
