I trudged through the snow-tipped pines, the bitter wind whistling through my brown hair. I wished I was two again when all my memories were happy and I had my parents.
I couldn't wipe the memories of today from my head. I couldn't stop seeing it, the flash of the sun as it glinted off the windscreen. The screech of the tyres sliding off the road. My parents cries as they slid to their death.
I sobbed as I slumped to the ground, my back against the tall pines trunk, and I felt like dying.
I woke up, the memories of yesterday swirling around in my head. I'd run away so I wouldn't have to face everyone. . . So I didn't have to be in an orphanage. All I wanted to be was alone.
I stood up and headed further into the mess of green and brown, as my vision blurred in front of my eyes.
I'd been walking for hours and suddenly I had just realized that something was following me.
I turned around and screamed, a pair of bright green eyes peering out of the darkness. You could hear the drool seeping out of its mouth. A slimey paw peeked out from the darkness as it reached out to clutch me.
I stumbled backwards and tripped over a rock. I was lying on the ground inching backwards as fast as I could but it was gaining on me, its freakish horns sticking out above its hideous face, its fat jaw snarling. It was getting so close that I could smell its disgusting breath.
It pounced, flying in the air, and I closed my eyes waiting to die.
I opened my eyes. . . wait a second I opened my eyes. I was alive, I must be dreaming. I pinched myself blinked a few times and looked around. Nothing-it had disappeared....
I've been thinking about the things that happened to me in the woods and I realised that I would be happier at home. Any thing would be better than this. That's why I decided to leave. A person can only survive so long on their own. So this is how my story ends - a girl walking out of the woods on a cold winters evening.
