Forbidden Romance (James x Reader)

Where's James?

What the heck? James was supposed to be here! He couldn't have stood me up like this, it wasn't something he'd do! I had to find him, something had to be wrong... Well, if that's how it is, Detective Y/N is on the case!
I checked all of his normal hiding places, as well as all of our normal hangout spots, but there was not even a single sign of James. My last option (which I didn't want to resort to) was to call Jesse and ask her about his whereabouts. I doubted she'd listen or answer any of my questions though... As kind as she is,  she would never want to help me. I was her competition when it came to winning over James, and if she knew that he didn't show up for our date, she'd only laugh and tell me that he belongs to her. What else can I do? Perhaps I should go to the boss and see if he assigned James a last-second mission... Nah, he'd think I've lost it. Shaking, I pulled out my phone and called Jesse. She hadn't seen James since yesterday, and was also getting worried. Even though she laughed at me, just as I had predicted, she still agreed to help, so at least I wasn't doing this alone, although I would've willingly handled this with or without her help.
Interrupting my thoughts, I get a random call from someone. Looking down at the screen, it was none other than my former team leader, Candela.
Kinda still overwhelmed, I answer the phone. "What do you want, Candela?" I asked, a slight hint of frustration laced in my voice. Candela revealed that she had called the cops on James, and that he was currently behind bars for theft and for kidnapping me. Even more angry, I couldn't hold back anymore and yelled through the phone, "I left your team for a reason, Candela! You wouldn't let me communicate with my friend just because we were on different teams, you made me feel insignificant, and now you call the cops on my best friend?! I don't care how you feel. I hope Team Valor falls apart right in front of you and you have to painfully watch as every single member turns their back on you and your stupid, no empathy having team!" I heard Candela crying on the other side of the phone, and I hung up. I had to find where he was locked up, and I had to get him out of there as soon as possible. Not looking back for even a second, I got on my bike and pedaled as fast as I could to the nearest prison.
