Down The Red Line.

Contrary to popular belief, Midoriya Izuku actually has a quirk. (One that it's not One For All). And, instead of getting it by the age of four, he's had it since birth.

His mom is the first person to know about it. She finds out when Izuku asks ( in a very cute three-year-old way) why can't he see the red line that connected him to Kacchan in the last picture they've taken. The one where they were about to enter Kindergarten on their first day.

"Red line?"

"Yeah, Mamma. This," Little Izuku says, raising his pinky finger to show her the thing tied to it.

Inko blinks. It takes her a moment to speak again.

"Honey, honey I'm gonna ask you something and I need you to not lie to me, okay? Really, Mamma is not gonna get mad if you lied before,just- just answer this:"

Izuku frowns . Mamma looks worried.

"Is this something that you see? Red lines? On people- I mean connecting people?"

The boy nods, slowly, confused.

"Do I have one too?"

Another nod.

"Who is it connected to?"

Izuku shrugs.

"I don't know,"

"You've never seen them?"

He shakes his head.

"And yours is connected to Katsuki?"

Izuku nods again.

"What about Auntie Mitsuki? Does she have one?"

"Yeah, with Uncle Masaru." He responds almost instantly.

He can see his mamma looking at him. Her eyes seem bigger than they normally are.

"Oh boy," She breathes out and that's it, everything changes. "Izuku, do you know what soulmates are?"

His perception of the world changes.

Izuku is four, and even though he can't tell Kacchan about his quirk because mamma doesn't let him, he tries to be the best soulmate there is.

He goes where Kacchan goes (just in case he needs Izuku there).

He smiles when Kacchan smiles (He also cries when Kacchan cries).

He tells him how amazing he is.

Izuku doesn't like lying to Kacchan. Mamma says he has to because, up until now, there was no proof that soulmates even existed and she says that they could take Izuku away to run tests or something like that. (He doesn't know who's 'they' but he doesn't want to know either).

He's five and, after seeing Kacchan fight some eight graders alone because they were bugging some of his friends, Izuku decides to become a hero regardless of what his mamma says.

If Kacchan wants to become a Hero then Izuku will be the best hero partner there is.

He's seven, and now Kacchan only talks to him on their weekly dinner at the Bakugou's.

Izuku has tried to explain to his mom that Kacchan needs to know that he's not quirkless. He has tried but she has refused so far. So, for now, he has to live with seeing Kacchan play with his other friends.
