the midnight sky still holds scattered shades of navy blue, illuminated by the new august moon. the darkness will not devour it tonight, not as long as the moon continues shining as bright as a cup of silky white milk under the sun.
this is the beginning of a new month. a new time. a new direction towards the ever-going future. a new energy pushing everyone forward with age and newfound maturity from the previous month.
august. when summertime starts reaching its climax, the warmth of glaring sun rays and humidity from day and night turns into chill crispy evenings and sunny breezy mornings. when walmart starts changing its camping and recreational inventory into back to school. when leaves start to take shelter on the soil instead of branches, leaving them to fend for themselves against the growing winds of an upcoming winter.
a time to say goodbye to loved ones and venture off into life to become anew.
august is the sunday of the monthly calendar.
i usually despise sundays, but i have come to love them. they allow us to prepare ourselves against the harshness of tomorrow, one more chance to redeem ourselves and make the best of the time we have. they allow us to be grateful for the fun we've had during the year. august should've taken january's place. it truly indicates the new year, unlike a certain mistletoed snowy evening.i'm excited to start this month anew. the energy i feel is different than previous years. i feel like i will accomplish many goals, goals i have never thought of nor ever expected. goals that aren't necessarily academic, but good for my soul and body. my bed looks the same, but feels newer. my desk is the same, but much more fragile. my window is the same, but the sky is different. it's brighter, it's more peaceful, the atmosphere smells of the light fragrance of flowers, the night breeze is refreshing. i will become a new person this year. i will enter my chapter of adulthood this year. not the one society decided for us at 18, but the adult i am becoming at 20. august 2023, let's see what you have in store for me.
