"The Hart Manor was known as the home of the family of vampires that invaded this city. Rumor has it they were killed and now nobody can sell the house."
"Yeah right."
"Come on, Wild Card! Have you seen the videos of people walking by there?"
"Yes, and they're fake."
"You say that now but I guarantee you it's real."
"Whatever, I'm going to the city for a bit."
"Don't let the vampires get you!"
Wild Card walked around the city until he found himself in front of the manor and away from the rest of the city. As he walked by, he noticed a family coming out of the home with a real estate agent.
"What do you think?"
"We'll take it."
"Really?! I mean that's great! Follow me to my office."
Wild Card locked eyes with one of the teenage-looking girls and they froze before she smiled at him and got into the car after what looked to be her mother.

"Valerie."
"Yes, Mother?"
"What have we said about staring at others?"
"Don't look at anyone or we'd be suspicious."
"Exactly. We can't keep running. So, control yourself and your thirst."
"It's not thirst, Mother. I just locked eyes with a boy. I've never dated anyone before what if I want to start now?"
"With a human? No."
"Father was a human. I'm 16. Let me have a life."
"End of discussion."
Valerie sighed and looked out the window the whole way until they stopped at a building.
"Wait in the car."
"Let me explore the area. I swear I'll be good!"
"If I catch even a glimpse of you losing control, you're staying home."
Valerie scrambled out and watched her family enter the building before wandering off to a nearby diner where she saw the boy she locked eyes with sitting with a couple of other children before he froze as she walked past him and sat on a chair.

"Who's the pretty girl?"
"I saw her and her family agreeing to buy the manor."
"The hart manor?!"
Facemaker laughed awkwardly as people stared before lowering his voice.
"Do they even know the history?"
"How would I know?!"
"What can I get you beautiful?"
"Coffee. Black. To go."

Valerie turned to face the other children and winked at Wild Card before placing money on the table and walking out with her coffee.
