I slept with a heavy heart and teary eyes. My body was trembling the entire night and I felt feverish. Yet, somehow I found the strength to get up from bed the next morning, praying that it was all a bad dream and nothing else.

But I was proven wrong when I saw the interior of her room with no sign of her and Walter's voice on the other side of the door telling me to get ready.

My body fell on the bed and I pressed my palm to my trembling lips as I began processing everything. What has become of my life?

I got up from the bed, praying that I would find Clecentine. But the sound of silence filled the entire mansion. No sign of Clecentine. I rubbed the tears from my eyes in frustration. If this is the end of us then surely I can do nothing about it. What was the point of all of this? Why did fate plan for us to meet if this is how it ends?

I slammed open the door of my room and found everything packed neatly. My suitcases were displayed in front of me with all the documents, visa and passport of me and my father on the desk next to the bed.

Slowly walking towards the bathroom I opened the door and walked inside, brushing and taking a shower. I spent some time in the shower, getting lost in a trance. I felt my lips curl into a smile as I replayed memories of washing Clecentine's hair in the bathtub, how relaxed and calm she felt under my touch.

I pressed my lips together and walked out of the food, fully clothed and tucked the clothes I wore last night into a small bag and threw it into my suitcase.

Walter stood outside the door, calling out to me. I grabbed hold of my suitcases and bags before opening the door, seeing Walter and two other men in front of me. Without waiting for further instructions they took the bags and suitcases from my hands and carried them away.

Turning my face to Walter I managed to force a smile on my face which he returned with a small, sad one of his own, as if he felt pain at watching me leave. He must be, we were quite close to each other. He was like the cool uncle I never had.

Feeling too overwhelmed I threw my arms around him as he held me tightly in his arms. A few minutes later he let go of me and held my shoulders.

''We must go now, Miss Rose. We'll pick up your father from the hospital.''

''Rose

''Rose. My child. Oh, you're here.'' My dad smiled in pure joy, tears of happiness filling his eyes as he slowly walked towards me with slow steps, arms outstretched.

I smiled at him, my vision getting blurry with tears as I ran towards him and hugged him tightly. He patted my back twice, crying loudly on my shoulder. Even in the darkest and lowest moments of my life I still had my father. That was the only thing that helped me keep my shit together.

''We're leaving for Paris, right?'' He asked me when we pulled apart from each other.

''Wait, how do you know?'' I asked. I had an entire speech planned about telling him about going to Paris and answering any questions he had with me.
