I have always thought about what life would be like after school, when I was a little girl I was marrying a rich man and living in a mansion, when I was in middle school I was going to be a singer and be rich enough to live on my own, when I reached high school I realized that being rich isn't everything a person needs and now I am here.
Back home.
Last year, I graduated college with a dual degree in nursing and midwifery. My parents didn't make it to my graduation.
To be more specific, they didn't make it out of their car.
I had their funeral in Salem where the rest of my relatives are buried and have been working at the children's hospital there ever since.
Now of course, is when I am finally recognized as next of kin, and left with no choice but to move back to Forks.
When I was a kid, I was never afraid to be happy, then I hit middle school, then high school, and now, I am 23 years old and dreading going back to my hometown.
The Forks Community Hospital thankfully approved my transfer and I somehow managed to not go broke whilst moving back into my childhood home.
So here I am. All of my stuff splayed out into random piles and stacks throughout the house while I belt out (fav song) by (fav artist) into a wine bottle.
I can't lie, it feels great to be in my old home.
My house or more specifically, my bedroom, was and will always be my safe space in Forks. A fair few people in this town may not always appreciate or show any form of kindness to me, but this house makes me feel that kind of warmth, just by standing.
I continue putting my things away, now only half-dancing and I hear a knock on the front door.
"Coming!!" I shout, quickly putting down the box I've been holding and half-running, half-moving things with my feet to create a path and make my way to the front door.
"How can I help you?" I ask as I open the door. A tall middle-aged man stands before me, he has a few graying hairs and a thick moustache. His shirt has 'C. Swan' written in gold embroidery over his right pocket and the left has a Forks Police Department crest above it.
"Just thought I should welcome back our favourite neighbor" He says, his voice is rough and sweet at the same time, like fresh maple syrup.
"CHARLIE!!" I squeal, throwing my arms over his shoulders and hugging him tight. Charlie was one of my dads best friends when I was a kid, he was my unofficial uncle. He and his daughter were like family to us.
"Hey Kiddo" He chuckles, pulling me in for a bear hug. "We've missed you jellybean, how're you doing?"
His question brings my mood down a a little bit, I don't tell him how I really feel.
"I'm doing great, I'm super excited to be back home, especially with being able to see everyone again!!"
"That's great" he says, putting me back down, "I did just come to say hi, but, do you want to come over for dinner? Bella's cooking and this looks like a lot" he motions towards the living room riddled with miscellaneous items still yet to find a place.
Bella being here is very out of the ordinary, being that she is only ever here on summer and winter breaks and other extra special occasions, however, I will never be known to turn down a home cooked meal.
"That sounds amazing" I smile, "Just let me change into something decent and I'll be over soon" I hug him again.
He says goodbye to me and I watch him walk across the street and over to where his house is nestled. It sits alone but it has a few big trees surrounding it. I always loved playing there as a kid.
I shut the front door and walk back into my filthy living room, searching for the box with the word 'clothes' written on it. I find it and decide to move it to my bedroom, I may as well unpack it while I have it in mind.
I leave the house about an hour later with my hair actually brushed and in a loose plait down my back with a cute dress on, it is (f/c) with flowers on it, it reaches my knees and has a trim around the hem that makes it look ethereal. I slip on some comfy shoes and grab my purse. I may only be going across the street but I don't want to risk anything.
I walk up the street towards the Swan residence, admiring the big oak tree that overshadows the driveway of the old white house, it's fallen leaves on the ground add to the 'lived-in' affect the peeling paint and cracked concrete walkway give off. The lights inside make it seem as warm as it did back when I was a little girl.
I reach the porch steps and choose to skip them and practically jump to the door. I knock and wait. No answer.
I knock again and am met with the same silence.
'Am I tripping out right now? Is this not the same place they've lived in for the past like, 20 years?!' I think to myself, doubt and concern sneaking up on me like spiders crawling up my spine.
"I'll be right there!!" A voice calls from what sounds like the other side of the house. I hear a few footsteps inside, the sound of clanging utensils and plates hitting hard surfaces concerning me even more. Finally, the door swings open wide;
"Y/N!! I almost didn't believe Charlie, it's been tooo long!" Bella stands before me, pale as ever with an unfamiliar sparkle in her eye. She looks different, like she just won the lottery.
" No shit!" I say, pulling her in for a long hug. I have missed her, Bella was the closest thing I ever had to a little sister when we were kids. She's a lot taller than I remember and she's got bangs.
"Well don't freeze your asses off out there!" I hear Charlie call. I can smell something delicious inside. We share a glance when she lets go. She's still got a way to make me feel special, after all these years. I'm still the only person who gets to see this Bella, my little (not) sister. Something is different about her and I can't help but feel I need to figure it out.
"Hurry it up girls!!" Charlie shouts again.
We make our way inside and I slip off my shoes. Thawing in the hallway, the yellow light taking me back to when we used to play in here for hours over the summers. I feel myself begin to smile. I may live in the house down the street, but this place will always be my home.
For the first moment since I arrived, I finally let my guard down a little and just relax.
I'm home.

What's up shawties!
I started this book because I wasn't feeling the other ones Wattpad has to offer. I put all the energy I could muster into writing this (I have the flu and I am bored). Hence, this shit. I have big dreams for her and small bursts of energy. So, enjoy.
P.S. If this doesn't immediately tank, I may make one with a plus size Y/N and a Male Y/N.
