Am I Forgiven?

Chapter 1

"Surprise!"

Alexander slowly adjusted his eyes to the dim light after Athena removed her hands from his eyes.

The room was lit with candles that was placed at every hook and nook of the room which managed to make the darkness stay away.

Alexander looked at Athena.

Athena was a joyful and lively girl who always loved to have adventures. Alexander was usually the timid one. When they had met in college for the first time, Athena was the perfect definition of a bad girl to the students. Not that she wore leather jackets or rode any bike, it was because of her physique which scared the students. She had a huge figure around 6'3 which made the students cower back. In the whole college only Alexander was exactly the same height as her. She used to beat the boys if they went out of line with her. And that's what had exactly made Alexander fall for Athena.

"I have a surprise for you, cherry." Athena's eyes glistened with moisture.

"What?"

"Come with me."

Athena dragged Alexander to the nearest table. A small basket was kept on it with lots of cotton and candies along with Alexander's favourite tulips.

"Find the odd one out from these candies."

"Seriously, Athena?"

"Oh come on, I am not pranking you again. I am serious this time."

"You say this everytime." Alexander huffed.

Athena's pranks didn't stop even after marriage. One day, she had put flour in one of his sandwiches. Alexander had ate it quietly without complaining. It was the first time she had made something for him. Till now, Athena cooks rarely as she doesn't get much time after she returns from her law firm. Alexander does all the chores without any complain. He is happy because his wife is happy and Athena is happy because Alexander is happy.

Alexander rummaged through the candies in order to put up with her childishness. Suddenly his hand felt something long and hard beneath the cotton. His hand dove and he took out the pregnancy stick.

Alex stared at it for a moment contemplating why Athena had handed him this thing. He looked between Athena and the stick.

Athena continued to smile.

Then he noticed it.

A plus sign on the stick.

Something warm flooded Alexander's heart. It was as if he was getting his consciousness back after a long time of black out. Then slowly he realised.

"Congratulations Mr. Hall, we are going to be parents."

Alexander's eyes snapped back to Athena.

Pregnant?

Did he heard it right?

She was pregnant.

Alexander slowly raised his hand and placed it on her shoulders.

"You are pregnant?"

Athena didn't answered but her smile grew. Then in a blink, Alexander had circled his arms around hugging her tightly. He was shaking in joy.

"Thank you Athena, thank you for this. This was so unexpected yet joyous at the same time. Thank you for carrying our little one."

Athena hugged him tightly. Tears were flowing through her eyes. This man has always made her fall for him more in every single day. She was grateful to have him in her life.

"Thank you to you too, Alex. Thank you for this gift."

Alexander freed himself from her. He placed his palms on her temple and pressed a gentle kiss on her forehead.

"I love you, Tulip."

"I love you too, Cherry."

He held her hand and glided her towards the nearest table. He made her sit down and he went on one knee. Lifting her shirt a bit, he kissed her stomach and Athena giggled.

"Hey little one, I hope you are having a comfortable nap over there. We can't wait to see you. You know when you will be in between us, you are going to have the best mom. She is an amazing lady and I strongly believe you will grow up to be a wonderful human."

Athena giggled and ruffled through his hair.

"The baby is going to have the best dad too."

A tear fell through Alexander's eyes. He caressed her stomach and again kissed it.

"I promise you baby, I will protect you and your Mama. I will never let anyone harm you. Not a single soul. Your dad loves you and your mom."
