"-!" Rose jumped before she turned to see her old acquaintance, Hyacinth, jogging toward her from the cafeteria, waving. "-,-..." Hyacinth slowed to a walk. "-,-?" Rose didn't expect such a snarky reply. "..."

The two began walking across the grassy lawn of the high school. Rose sped up her pace hoping to lose Hyacinth. She'd just come from a lecture on psychological barriers and ego death, but had forgotten to take notes, and didn't want to forget what she'd absorbed.

"-?-?" Rose was confused and embarrassed. She was sure Hyacinth had forgotten about her since the two's last conversation in middle school, before Rose started homeschooling. "-...-..." Hyacinth stopped and made an exaggerated frown.
