I don't know what it was that woke me up that morning.

If it was the stress or excitement of the last day of high school.

Or my little sister yelling at the top of her lungs, letting the entire neighbourhood know she was awake.

However, having three hours before my usual time of waking up, I woke up at four in the morning on this particularly cold Monday morning in the middle of may.

You would think being in England for the past two years would make me more used to the unusual weathers it has but coming from Los Angles even their hottest weather still had me wearing sweaters. But for the sake of not looking like an idiot for the last day I threw on a white sundress and headed to the kitchen.

Getting my bowl of cereal I went into my sisters room and turned on her little music projector to shut her up and then went back up to my room to eat my breakfast. When my mom knocked on my door I looked up from my laptop, puzzled as to why she looked so concerned.

"What's up?" I asked looking down at my laptop and continuing to scroll tumblr.

"Have you happened to look at the time on that laptop?" She asked raising her perfectly done eyebrow. I looked at her, still confused and noticed she looked even more professional today than ever... if that's even possible. Looking at my laptop I noticed it was 8:30, I was five minutes late to the first bell of my last year.

"Fuck!"

"EMILY!!"

"shiiiit I'm so late why didn't you say anything!" I got up grabbing my now empty bowl and my backpack and keys and running down the stairs.

"You know there is no swearing in this house, you have a younger sister to set an example for young lady, I did not raise you-"

I didn't let her finish banging the door in her face done with her sophisticated bullshit that had started ever since she married Bill and made us move across the globe, just because her husband wanted to and they thought that would be a great place to have Pepper ( My barely out of the womb half sister) be born. Before meeting Bill it had been me and her, in a one bedroom apartment, having microwaved meals everyday and having both of us work full time. Which I was okay with because I still got to see my Dad.

When she sat me down three years ago telling me we would be moving to England in a few months and that my Dad was completely fine with it, at first I didn't believe her... or I didn't want to believe her. But my Dad even had the courtesy of packing my bags for me from his house and dropping them off at my Mom's door on our last day in California.

I hadn't heard of him ever since and did not plan on being the first to call because I had been the one all these years after the divorce trying... for both of my parents.

It's like they both shut me out though, not wanting anything to do with me. I was interupted from my thoughts by a loud honk from my best friend Ashley grinning at me from ear to ear noticing that she'd scared me.

I got out of the car, sticking my tongue at her and slamming the door, then accidentally getting my bag caught in the door and was yanked back.

Ashley doubling over from laughter walked over and untangled me.

"You're lucky you didn't crash this morning you looked so deep in thought I almost thought you were like one of those people who sleep with their eyes open." She grabbed my keys from me, locking the car.

"I probably was getting there." I told her about my sleepless morning and she ignored it and started talking about this party that she wanted me to go to tonight for the last day of school.
