"Still too slow. Again." Being pushed to the brink wasn't something you had in mind when involuntarily signing into this training group. The harsh sunlight beat down on you as the training never got any easier. Clyde Ray, your trainer, and an elite warrior in the rebel army for the past six months, is a completely different person when wielding a weapon. Out in the town, he seemed more normal, reserved, and someone who definitely just minded his own business. When training though, there was a completely different side of Clyde. He was unpredictable, rough, and everything else that marked him as 'sadistic'. Always pointing out what you did wrong, making you do it all over again.

So, to sum it up, training was difficult.

"(Y/N)! You are spacing out. Again." Every time he spoke, you never got a compliment. Even though he was supposed to be helping you get better, you still got nothing. It was always, you're stupid, I hate you, do everything all over again. Which, you didn't really mind, since training was over soon. It almost seemed as though he specifically only hated you too; he was normal with the other elite warriors when training and never commented anything about their behaviors.

"I'm trying over here, you know!" You yelled back at him, and he only scoffed in reply. You looked over, only to see him lazily lying against a tree with a bored look. It pissed you off how easy he made the very difficult training look, but it made sense since he had so much more experience than you did. He was regarded as an "elite" warrior, someone with unique skills on the battlefield and good at taking down priority targets. Sadly, you were only a warrior, a frontliner for the more useful people behind you. He was pushing you to new levels of training that were not meant for you at all. Once he noticed you staring, he got up and walked close to you. Really close to you, until he was about a foot away from your face.

"Is the princess finally ready to continue?" He remarked sarcastically, his true nature showing for a split second before he pulled away. Your face almost started to turn red, but you realized he had no idea who you really were... right? You wave it off and ignore it, focusing on the task at hand. He turned around and into a battle stance, waiting for you to do the same. You figured it wouldn't hurt to spar with him one more time before moving to more important and fun things with the rest of your evening, like reading more books you found in the common lounge area of your living space.

"..Just hurry up." You mumbled, matching his battle stance as an indication that you were ready. He listened to your pleas and immediately rushed to knock off your feet, using a sweep attack from his spear. His spear was amazing by design. The wood used for the polearm was of fine quality, and had tiny little symbols engraved up the sides. You had always meant to ask him over the last six months since you noticed, but never really got the chance to. Not getting distracted, you brought your attention back to the combat in front of you. You came back to consciousness and jumped out of the way of the spear, turning around to hit him in the side with your curved sword.

"As you wish, my princess." He winked and dodged your attempt to strike him back with ease before rushing in with another attack. You knew what he was trying to do. Using his attractive appearance, he would try to distract you and catch you off guard. It had happened more than once that by now it didn't affect you as much. You dodged it with ease, sliding over to the left. He knew you would have been able to dodge it, so his next attack was to your right now, trying to jab you with the back of his spear. You barely had time to react and dodge it by losing your footing, causing you to take a few steps into a tree. You held up your ground with your back to the tree, holding up your curved sword to the front of you.

He instantly rushed towards you, bringing his spear above him, almost to pierce it through you in his next swift move. Instead, he stabbed the spear into the bark of the tree right next to your head, pinning you against the tree practically right up against him. He pinned you from the other side using his hand, way after the fight was already won in his favor. He kept you there, locked into his gaze. It felt like time had stopped with the two of you being so close together; the silence between you two was only broken by both of you breathing heavily. It felt like you were going to kiss or something as the tension kept rising and you started to blush, unsure of why he wasn't moving away.
