It was the end of the day. Yeonjun was at his locker, grabbing the things he needed to do his homework. Yeonjun got his textbooks as well as a black journal with a drawing of Kim Taehyung on it. As the rest of the students began to leave, Yeonjun noticed an older man standing in the hallway. The man had dirty blond hair and blushed skin. Yeonjun didn't recognize him, which was odd considering that there wasn't much staff at the school. Yeonjun just tried to brush it off, but then the man came up to him.

"Good afternoon," the man said putting his hand on Yeonjun's shoulder. Yeonjun shuddered. This man was a stranger to him, there was no telling what he would do.

"Stop trembling!" the man shouted, making Yeonjun jump, "I'm not going to harm you, I'm just doing my job."

The man continued to inspect Yeonjun. "I'm afraid that your outfit is out of the dress code," the man stated.

"What do you mean?" Yeonjun asked, "I'm wearing the school uniform."

"Your shorts are too short," the man explained, "they stop above your knee."

The man pulled out a detention slip and wrote something on it before giving it to Yeonjun. Yeonjun swore under his breath, making sure the man didn't hear. On his way to the detention room, Yeonjun saw the man go into a room with a sign that said "Mr. Yoon" on it. Yeonjun walked to the detention room and opened the door, he could already hear the scolding he would get from his father once he got home, and the school hadn't even called yet.

Yeonjun sat at a desk in the front row. There wasn't a teacher in the room, so he just had to wait. Yeonjun hated having detention, that's why he's only had it two times in his life. Just as Yeonjun was suffering, a short woman who Yeonjun recognized as Mrs. Ahn stepped into the room.

"Well," Mrs. Ahn murmured, "isn't it a surprise to see you here, Yeonjun." Mrs. Ahn scared the shit out of Yeonjun. She has a reputation for being so strict that even the worst students behaved well in front of her. "What are you in here for?" Mrs. Ahn asked.

"Dress code violation," Yeonjun clarified, "something about my shorts being too short." Yeonjun handed Mrs. Ahn the detention slip he was given.

"Seems to be correct," Mrs. Ahn stated, "you wait here while I get your punishment."

Mrs. Ahn seemed happy despite the fact Yeonjun had detention. Once she left the room, Yeonjun pulled out his black journal and started writing.

A random man gave me detention for a dress code violation. I have never met him before, but I know his name is Mr. Yoon. Anyways, I'm currently sitting in the detention room waiting for my punishment. Mrs. Ahn is handling detention today, yet something seems off about her. She seems awfully...happy?

Mrs. Ahn usually is cold and emotionless, seeing her in such high spirits is a rare sight. But back to detention, I really hope my dad doesn't know I got in trouble. The last time I got detention, let's just say it didn't end well for me. I can hear Mrs. Ahn coming back so I should probably end this here.

Yeonjun put his notebook back in his backpack. Mrs. Ahn came back with a sheet of paper and a blue folder.

"As punishment, you have to write a paper saying what you did wrong and what you could've done to avoid it." Mrs. Ahn's voice changed from joyful to her usual monotone voice. "You also have to have a parent sign it."

Mrs. Ahn sighed as she handed Yeonjun the paper. Yeonjun could feel his soul drop to the bottom of his body. This meant that his dad would find out he got detention, and Yeonjun wasn't prepared for the repercussions.

Yeonjun took the paper and started writing his essay. As he wrote, Mrs. Ahn called his dad to inform him of the situation. Yeonjun could feel the sweat running down his back. He didn't exactly know why he was nervous, it wasn't like he hasn't gone through this before.

"Your dad said he'll be here soon," Mrs. Ahn said walking towards the door, "I have to go to a meeting. I trust you to be here on your own." Yeonjun nodded in agreement. A couple of minutes after Mrs. Ahn left, a group of boys came into the room.

There were four of them from what Yeonjun counted. One of them was in a wheelchair while the other three appeared to be able-bodied. It didn't seem like they had detention, so why were they in the detention room?

"Hey," Yeonjun blurted, trying to get the boys' attention.

"Hi," one of the boys replied, "let me guess, you have detention?"

Yeonjun got up from his chair. "Yeah," Yeonjun confessed, "I got in trouble for a dress code violation." One of the boys stepped toward Yeonjun. He has long, black hair with blond streaks in it. His eyes were big and brown like those pretty rocks a child would collect.

"My name is Beomgyu," the boy said putting his hand on Yeonjun's shoulder, "and you are?"

"Choi Yeonjun."

Beomgyu pointed at the rest of the boys. "Those are my friends," Beomgyu explained, "we've known each other since kindergarten."

Beomgyu introduced the other boys as Soobin, Taehyun, and Kai. Kai was the boy in the wheelchair, and the other boys seemed to be helping him out.

"Why are you guys in the detention room?" Yeonjun asked. "We usually meet in here after school," Soobin answered, "normally there's no one in here, so we have the whole room to ourselves."

Taehyun noticed the pins on Yeonjun's backpack. "You're a fan of BTS too?" Taehyun questioned pointing out the multiple BTS pins Yeonjun had collected over the years.

"Yeah," Yeonjun blushed, "I've been an ARMY for a while." The boys shared a collective smile.

Yeonjun then noticed Kai, who didn't seem to be interested in the conversation.

"Does he speak?" Yeonjun asked, whispering into Beomgyu's ear.

"Rarely," Beomgyu replied, "or at least around new people."

Yeonjun stepped toward Kai. "Hey," Yeonjun said, trying to get Kai's attention. Kai didn't say anything, he only gave a slight wave to Yeonjun, then continued to write in his book.

"What are you writing?" Yeonjun asked in an attempt to start a conversation. Kai handed Yeonjun the pale blue book. The book wasn't much bigger than Yeonjun's hands, and it was decorated with a coat of arms on the front.

Yeonjun opened the journal to see what Kai could have been writing. And what he would find would prove that he and Kai weren't so different after all. The first page of the journal contained a mixture of lengthy paragraphs and quick sketches worthy of an award.

"You're a great drawer!" Yeonjun exclaimed, handing the journal back to Kai.

"Thank you," Kai blushed, "my sister taught me how to draw."

A black car with white stripes on it pulled into the school. It was Yeonjun's dad.

"I have to go," Yeonjun said grabbing his backpack, "my dad's here." As Yeonjun got up to leave, Soobin grabbed a piece of paper and quickly wrote something on it.

"Here are our phone numbers," Soobin explained handing Yeonjun the paper, "maybe we can talk later." Yeonjun smiled at the boys and walked out of the classroom and towards the parking lot.

He had a feeling these boys were going to get along well...
