Prologue 1.0

"Myah! Take that!"

"Hee, heeee! We're goners! Let's skedaddle!"

I was out of breath and my throat felt parched from shouting out directions.

"Mahh, that was awful..."

"At least they're gone now."

I jumped out of my skin as Crowley busted through the front door.

"Due to your predicament, I have graciously bought you dinner!"

His eyes flitted to the ferret next to me.

"You're the one who caused chaos during the entrance ceremony! I expelled you from the campus, why are you back!?"

"Hmph! I took care of your ghost problem, that's why!"

"Ghosts? Ah, yes. That was why this dorm was abandoned in the first place. So, you two teamed up to defeat the ghosts?"

I nodded, subconsciously holding my tail to calm my nerves.

"Sir, would it be possible for the ferret to stay with me...?"

"What? A monster?"

"Please, I don't know if I can still use my magic yet. And what if the ghosts come back?"

He sighed and sat in thought for a moment before sighing again.

"I suppose I cannot ignore your pleas. Very well, it may stay. But in no way will I ever allow a monster to attend my academy!"

I exhaled and let go of my tail as it returned swinging behind me.

"I also will not allow you to freeload until you return to your world. Considering that the Dark Mirror brought you here, we are held responsible as its holders. For now, I will permit you to stay in this dormitory free of charge. However, you will need to pay for your own food and toiletries."

I nodded; I could live with that, but where would I find the money?

"Seeing as you have nothing to your name, I have a proposition. You will do maintenance and run errands around campus as part of Night Raven College's new janitorial staff! In return, you will have special permission to remain on school grounds and be allowed access to study in the library. My, I am gracious!"

Then Grim started complaining while I went over the pros and cons in my head. 

I could research how to go home and probably learn new spells from this world, but from what I've seen, the campus is pretty big, so I might not have time to study at all. But then again, I would be able to have a roof over my head and pay...

"I agree."

"Very good. Then I welcome you as the newest staff at Night Raven College!"

Why did I agree to stay here again?

After Grim got into a catfight with the ghosts earlier this morning and receiving a visit from Crowley about our job for the day, we wandered out to start working. And my gods, the dark did not do justice showing how huge this place actually is.

"Wow, so this is Main Street? This is incredible! I didn't get to see much yesterday, but there are a lot of statues. What's with the scary looks on their faces."

I looked up from my sweeping and to the statues Grim was describing and my eyes widened.

All of these are the villains from my books...Oh, gods...

"Like this one here. She looks like she's got some reeeal anger issues."

"You don't know the queen of hearts?"
