Percy Ditches Us. (short)

I didn't feel to good about lying to Percy about Mrs. Dodds not extisting. But it was necessary the less he knew the better after all I now knew he was a demigod. I knew that I was convincing enough but I don't think Grover lied good enough.

The freak weather continued. One night, a thunderstorm blew out the windows in my dorm room. A few days later, the biggest tornado ever spotted in the HudsonValley touched down only fifty miles from YancyAcademy. One of the current events we studied in social studies class was the unusual number of small planes that had gone down in sudden squalls in the Atlantic that year.

Percy started acting cranky and irritable most of the time. His grades slipped from Ds to Fs. He got into more fights with Nancy Bobofit and her friends. He was sent out into the hallway in almost every class.

Finally, when our English teacher, Mr. Nicoll, asked him for the millionth time why he was too lazy to study for spelling tests, he snapped. He called him an old sot. I wasn't even sure what it meant, but it sounded good.

He got sent to the headmaster office I'm pretty sure that means he won't be here next year well that's fine. I won't either. Mr. Brunner called me and Grover for a meeting but I didn't go why would I that's a waste of my time that I can use sleeping or studying. Obviously I'm gonna sleep.

The next afternoon, as I was leaving the three-hour Latin exam that I obviously aced. Annabeth would kill me if I didn't. Before I left Mr. Brunner called for Percy back to have a chat.

On the last day of the term, I shoved my clothes into my suitcase.

The other guys were joking around, talking about their vacation plans. One of them was going on a hiking trip to Switzerland. Another was cruising the Caribbean for a month. They were juvenile delinquents, like me, but they were rich juvenile delinquents. Their daddies were executives, or ambassadors, or celebrities. I was going to camp half blood but that didn't matter

They asked me and percy what we'll be doing this summer and I told them I  was going to summer camp and percy said he'd go back to the city

Rb: "oh that's cool."

They went back to their conversation as if we never existed.

When we left Grover made me go with him on the bus woth percy. During the whole bus ride, Grover kept glancing nervously down the aisle, watching the other passengers.

Percy: "Looking for kindly ones?"

Grover nearly jumped out of his seat.

Grover:  "Wha—what do you mean?"

Percy confessed about eavesdropping on Grover and Mr. Brunner the night before the exam.

Grover's eye twitched.
Grover:"How much did you hear?"

Percy: "Oh ... not much. What's the summer solstice dead-line?"

Grover winced.

Grover: "Look, Percy ... I was just worried for you, see? I mean, hallucinating about demon math teachers ..."

Percy: "Grover—"

Grover: "And I was telling Mr. Brunner that maybe you were overstressed or something, because there was no such person as Mrs. Dodds, and ..."

Kaze/Percy: "Grover, you're a really, really bad liar."

His ears turned pink.

From his shirt pocket, he fished out a grubby business card.

Grover: "Just take this, okay? In case you need me this summer."

Kaze: "if you need me I live at the same address...most of the time."

Percy: "most of the time?"

Kaze: "don't worry about it."

Percy: "What's Half—"

Kaze: "Don't say it aloud dumbass."

Grover: "That's my, um ... summer address."

Percy: "Okay So, like, if I want to come visit your mansion."

Grover: "or if you need me or Kaze"

Percy: "so it's just you and a few others there or what?"

Kaze: "we live there with my uncle Rick and my godfather Chiron"

Percy: "Chiron that sounds familiar"

Kaze: "oh well ima sleep."

After that I slept. And slept. And slept. Till Grover shook me awake

Kaze: "Grover give me 3 reasons shock your ass"

Grover: "3 fates cut cord Percy ditched us."

Kaze: "hmm well we should get to camp"
