Chapter 2: Home Sweet Home

As soon as Jack got home, he hugged his mom and went upstairs and sat in his room and looked out the window at the street. He noticed someone familiar, that same guy with a Orange body and Purple highlights. "Who the Hell is that? He's a odd guy." Looking back into his room, he thought long and hard about what Vanexa asked earlier, 'what would you do if I said I was in love with you?'

He sighed, unsure how to respond truthfully. Truth be told he still had feelings for Jill, but unfortunately after his outburst a couple years back, she stopped talking to him. He wished that sometimes he just walked away instead of busting Drake's jaw, and sometimes he wishes he hit it harder. "Damnit," he said to himself, "What the Hell is wrong with me?"

Normally, he wouldn't let his true feelings show, but, tonight, he couldn't keep his emotions down, for some reason or another, he put his head in his hands and let the tears flow. "Am I gonna be alone for the rest of my life? Fucking Hell. The girl I'm friends with loves me, and the girl I love hates my guts. Goddamnit." After a few minutes, he takes a deep breath and regains his composure and sighs deeply.

After watching the sun set, he decided to take a shower, so after he walked into his bathroom, he took his clothes off and got into the hot water, feeling better already. 30 minutes later when he walked out he had nothing on but a towel wrapped around his waist. That's why it was embarrassing to see Vanexa sitting on his bed, "V-Vanexa?!" It took a split second for her to realize he was wearing only a towel, and like that, they both was blushing hard, "H-Hi Jack, I didn't know you was in the shower!"

Still blushing, and holding the towel up to cover himself, he grabbed a pair of shorts and walked back to the bathroom and put them on, "What are you doing here Vex, don't you need to be at home? Your mom might be worried about..." Silence filled the other room she was in, all except for sobbing, which made him walk out and sit beside her, and place a kind arm around her, "Your mother is drinking again, isn't she?"

She didn't have to say anything, he knew what her mother was like. That's when he noticed a bruise on her cheek, "What happened Vanexa?" She froze instantly, wide eyed, but when she turned to him, he already knew, her mother's new boyfriend hit her, "OH FUCK NO!!!"

As he got up and grabbed his Baseball Bat, Vanexa grabbed his shoulders and held him close, "NO, PLEASE DON'T!!! It won't solve anything, you'll be locked away, and she'll just get someone worse and I'll have nobody! Please Jack, don't do something stupid!" Normally he would have just kept walking, mainly to kill the guy, but when she held onto him, he felt his anger disappear, so, he turned to her and held her close. "You are staying here tonight."

She didn't object, she just smiled, held him, and closed her eyes, "Thank you Jack. You make my dark world so much brighter." He felt it then, something he didn't think would happen: he was falling in love with his best friend.
