The trial was being held on the field behind the pack house. Hundreds of chairs had been laid out facing the patio at the back of the pack house that was raised and acted as a stage.

I was amazed at the amount of wolves willing to attend the trial, considering it wasn't even light out yet. However, there were many wolves excited for the party that would be held afterwards which would be an initiation, for the wolves that were allowed to stay, into the pack.

"You must be that Zeta." a low voice came from behind me and I let out a little scream, causing those nearby to look at me. I span around to be met with a broad chest. The man towering over me was clearly the elusive Alpha and I stumbles back in fear and shock and Rebecca caught me before I fell on my ass.

"Nysa." I introduced with a stiff smile. The man had the body of a Greek god. He stood nearly a foot above my height with piercing ice blue eyes and had his long obsidian hair fastened in a tight bun.

"I hope the pack has been treating you well in my absence." He said with a forced smile.

"Keeping me busy." I muttered, finding myself growing quieter the longer I talked with him.

"I'm glad. I hope I can have a word with you later this evening to plan your steps forwards, I have heard that you're in a bit of a difficult position." The way he talked made the matter seem insignificant, which somewhat put me at ease, at least he knew what he was doing.

"Yeah, that would be great." I smiled, this time actually feeling a bit better. I had felt like I was stuck in limbo for the past few days and it was nice to know that I was finally gonna make some progress.

"Perfect, have a good day ladies." He said, nodding his head at Rebecca who gave a small bow whilst he walked off.

"He's scary." I muttered when he was further away.

"Agreed, but he's a good Alpha." Rebecca smiled proudly. "He works hard for the pack and oversees most of the packs throughout England and Scotland."

"I never knew that..." I sighed.

"Thank you all for arriving so early." Beta James announced over a microphone system as we all fumbled to our seats. "We will be starting the trials momentarily. Could seats 13, 7, 104 and 76, please make your way to the jury box." I turned around, checking for my seat number only to find it blank.

"You're a guest, we won't get called, don't worry." Rebecca whisper laughed as four wolves arose from their seats and walked down the narrow makeshift isles.

"We first call Beta Cameron Ryan Clearwater to the stand." A tall muscular but beautiful woman called. She had deep auburn hair and clear moss green eyes.

"That's Ameira." Rebecca whispered. "She's the Gamma. She's always following the Alpha for meetings and standing in for a Luna while we don't have one."

"So, are they a thing?" I asked, looking between the stunning woman and the uninterested Alpha.

"No." She laughed. "Alpha's too hung up on the thought of his own mate and Gamma is too obsessed with her vampire mate to look at the man."

"You allow vampires in the pack?" I whisper-yelled. I had a bit of a history with Vampires from my time spent in Austria back when I still looked like a child and had lost my close friend and mentor to one.

"Yeah, under strict supervision of the Alpha." She said and I bit my lip feeling more uncomfortable than I had in a long time. "They're all peaceful here, don't worry, and they have a blood supply from the hospital so they don't attack anyone."
