Me and my brother, Sammy, lived in the streets of New York City since I was 12 and he was 2. We learned how to steal people's left over coffee in the cafe without getting caught, and how to pick locks at a very young age. We go around scanning the floor in Times Square for extra change. Ever since mom and dad died 5 years ago, life has been hard for us.

One day we went to Burger King, because we were able to save that much money to get a full meal. Sammy went to the bathroom and on his way back he saw a couple sitting by the other side of the wall and said hello (he is very friendly, unlike me, who'd rather stay behind my blonde bangs that cover my eyes from the world). The couple found Sammy so cute they wanted to adopt him. Of course they knew that he did not have parents anymore because:

1) he told them, and

2) he looks like he is from the streets based on the torn clothes he wears

Sammy was very exited that he almost forgot about me. Like, who does that? Completely forget the person you've lived with for most of your life?! He spun around quickly towards me.

" What about Caroline?," He asked his new parents.

" Oh, honey, dear, I'm so sorry our house only has but so much space"

And what was I doing this whole time? I have been giving Sammy a doughtful look ,trying to change his mind. If I was about to be adopted, I would definitely think about my sibling, but I would also think aboyt myself. So, instead of holding Sammy back, I motioned for Sammy to go and give up his poor life with me and go have a better life. And literally almost chocking, I saw Sammy run up and hug me.

Then they left Burger King and I waved goodbye, even though I knew Sammy couldn't see me.
