Becoming a runner

After the party I was tired and didn't know were to sleep. I took my problem to Alby. He told me to go to Chuck. I found Chuck pulling a prank on Gally. I rolled my eyes and tapped on his shoulder. I guess I startled him because he jumped 2 feet in the air. I laughed and asked him were do I sleep. He told me go find Minho and he'll be there in a second.

Again I went searching and finally found Minho by the died down fire staring into the flames. The fire helped me see so I wouldn't trip. I sat by Minho and he skilled at me, turned back to the fire and started speaking. "What do you think of being a runner?"

I looked at him and said,"What do you mean?"

He glanced at me and said,"I mean you got the strength and the skills to be a runner how else could you have made it into the maze with all of those boys chasing you?"

I thought about it for a second. "I guess it would be cool to be a runner where do I start?"

He stood up and said,"We can start training in the morning Chuck is coming to get your sleeping arrangements but if you'd like you can sleep by me."

I smiled and said,"Depends on if you want me to."

He smirked and muttered,"Of course I want you to, shank why else would I have asked you."

I frowned a little and said,"Alright Mr. Sassy Pants."

His feature softened a little and he said,"I was just playing."

I stood up as soon as I did Chuck came running over. I looked at him and told him I have a place to sleep. He looked at me questioningly and asked,"Where?"

I looked at Minho then back at Chuck and said,"I guess Minho has a spot by him."

Chuck grinned and nodded then backed away. I rolled my eyes and followed Minho to his spot on the ground. He pointed to a spot beside him and I knew what he meant. I took the spot and laied down. I was looking in the direction toward the doors making my breaths even so others would think I was asleep. When I was half asleep I felt an arm curl around me. I turned around and Minho was fast asleep with his arms firmly put around me. I tried to get him off me but his grip was too strong.

I let out a heavy sigh knowing I wasn't going to get him off me and I laied back to a comfortable position and fell asleep.

I woke up to someone shaking me. Minho was standing above me with a red face saying my name over and over again. I looked up and he said,"Get up it's time for training." I got up rubbed my eyes and was ready to go. He took me to a room and told me we needed to get supplies for the day. He through a backpack filled with food and water at me. I put it on and put on the shoes he gave me. I then asked him if Alby and Newt knew I was coming and he said he told them last night. I nodded and kept quiet after that.

It was almost time to leave the glade so we waited at the door for it to open. It began to open and as soon as 1 person could fit through the opening he started running. I hesitated a moment and started following him. He was a good 50 feet in front of me. I just kept following. About an hour later he slowed down to a stop. I wasn't but 25 feet behind him then so I kept running until I reached him. He took out an apple from his bag and I got one out mine. The apple distinguished my thirst so I didn't have to use any from my bag.

We started running and we passed buy 3 greivers by the time it was time to turn back. It wasn't really hard I could actually run with Minho this time I remembered every turn we made so I didn't have to play follow the leader no more. I was ahead of Minho now and he told me to slow down so I stopped and turned around to wait on him. When he was almost caught up his eyes grew huge and I knew there was a Griever behind me. I mouthed to him I was going to run. I took off knowing the greiver was right on my heels. I followed Minho until we were almost at the door. My chest hurt because of all the running. We were 20 feet from the door and it started to close. I already knew we were going to make it but I ran with all my might anyways. When i Minho made it out the doors were only a quarter of the way closed I turned around to see if the greiver was still chasing me. To my satisfaction it wasn't. I turned around and I was out of the maze. I ran to Minho and he gave me a giant hug tears left my eyes and I was glad to be back in the glade.

We ate dinner and I was to tired to do anything else so I went to the corner of the maze were I went when I got out of the maze the first time to get peace and quiet. To my surprise Minho followed me. I smiled up at him and told him he could sit beside me. He took the seat and looked in my eyes. My heart started to race. I knew I liked him then he took my hand and said,"Whitney I know you were only here a short time but I think I've fallen for you. I would like for you to know that and I wanted to ask..." He stopped and took a flower out from behind him and gave it to me. "If you'd be my girlfriend." I looked at him and smiled.

"Of course I would." I said squeezing his hand gently. He smiled and I laid my head on his shoulder while he was holding me and I fell asleep.
