Batman: Alfred, let me know when I'm there.

Alfred: Godspeed, Master Bruce.

Batman leaves the Batcave and drives all the way to Gotham, which was a peaceful drive around town, until...

Alfred(Comms): Sir, your nearing Master Grayson's tracking beacon. Have you found him?

Batman looks around the area, where he intends to find Nightwing. He eventually sees him lying down on the ground.

Batman: I've got him, Alfred, but he's in worse condition.

Y/n(Comms): He's fine, though, right?

Batman: [Ignoring Y/n's question] Beaten to death. Why wasn't I here? Why didn't I stop it?

Batcomputer: Data recorder detected.

Batman: I need to find out who did this. Analyzing Nightwing with the Forensics Scanner will help me identify the killer.

Batman gets out the Forensics Scanner and aims it at Nightwing, to which after a whole scan of his body show severe trauma.

Batman: Multiple trauma. Cause of death... cervical fracture. [To Nightwing] They broke your neck... You must have been in agony when you died.

Batcomputer: Downloading suit data recorder. Generating reconstruction.

Once the data comes back it shows more than a broken neck. Apparently Dick suffered a fractured jaw, arm and ribs.

Batman: You were the best fighter I ever trained. How did they beat you? If I can identify the precise moments when your three major injuries occurred it might help me establish your killer's identity. I can use the Forensics Scanner to analyze the reconstruction.

Batman starts playing the reconstruction data back and it shows Nightwing walking over to a fence, that is until the killer jumps down and prepares to fight, having Nightwing to equip his Escrima Sticks. Nightwing walks away, thinking its just a normal pedestrian, until the killer punches Nightwing in the face.

Batman: You dropped your guard before the first blow fractured your jaw. Why hesitate? It goes against everything I taught you. How were your other two injuries sustained? There must be a clue in the reconstruction.

After slugging Nightwing in the jaw, the killer kicks him in the ribs hoping to break even more bones, but Nightwing fights through the pain and starts fighting back. Nightwing's kicked into the trash can and the killer makes his move on him, struggling to hit one another until Nightwing get's tossed over to the wall. The killer keeps on trying to hit Nightwing, but after a few dodges he attempts a superman punch and twists Nightwing's arm, then proceeding to slam his own elbow down on the hero's arm and breaking it.

Batman: Your killer was fast. Strong. But that wasn't why they beat you. They knew exactly how you'd fight. Your ribs weren't fractured by this point. That must have happened near the end of the fight.

Batman once again plays the reconstruction and the killer knocks Nightwing down and picks up his Escrima Stick. Nightwing attempts to get away, but the killer throws the stick up and hits Nightwing in the head and makes him let go of his Grapnel Gun, now free falling down onto the bar of a metal staircase.

Batman: The killer anticipated your move and cut off your escape. I know you, Dick. You'd never back down from a fight... Did you know you were beaten? I'm starting to build a profile of your killer. Studying the fatal blow could provide another clue to their identity.

For the final time Batman plays the reconstruction and Nightwing attempts to get back up, but the killer walks behind him and wraps his hands around the head and neck, twisting it and killing him.

Batman: You were badly injured, no longer a threat. Your killer showed no mercy. [Sees killer fleeing] Why did the killer flee the scene? What did they see? I'm increasing the radius of the reconstruction. [Increasing radius; sees a witness] A witness. But who was it? I need to search the reconstruction, see if they left prints behind.

The witness was there when it all happened, and apparently he only took a look at two main points, that being when Nightwing was attempting to get up and when the killer was finally done with him. He put his hand on the wall to keep leverage, but that was when the killer saw the witness, who started running away.

Batman: A full handprint. The witness was Jackie Flynn, low-time criminal and known associate of the Penguin. [Gets an idea] I need to pay Penguin a visit.

Batcomputer: Ending reconstruction.

Batman: [Looks down at Nightwing, upset and regretful] I'm sorry, Dick. I should've been here. If Cobblepot had anything to do with your murder, I'll make him regret it.

Batman looks up to see the Batwing flying over the area, and grapples up to it, now heading to the Iceberg Lounge to pay Oswald Cobblepot a visit.
