THE THREE GIRLS were walking to school, talking about Bonnie and Caroline's drama.

"Have you even talked to Bonnie?" Elena asked, glancing at Caroline.

"No, I'm mad at her." Caroline immediately answered, "She needs to make the first move."

"Be the bigger person." Aurelia butted into the conversation, turning her head to her two friends.

"I know you're nice and all, but it's impossible in her presence." Caroline huffed, mumbling the sentence.

"Why are you so pissed at her anyway?" Elena questioned. Caroline took a deep breath, her anger rising.

"She's a thief, that's why." Caroline stated, "I gave her my necklace and she refuses to give it back." She now started doing hand gestures. That never ends well, "It's a matter of principle." She then shrugged.

"All right, well, I tried," Elena looked straight ahead, "I'm officially out of it."

"Care, you realize you gave it to her, not just let her borrow it, right?" Aurelia chuckled, getting a glare from Caroline. "All right, I'll shut up now." She murmured and looked down.

Caroline giggled as she playfully rolled her eyes, "Suit yourself. Now, Elena, your turn. Where's Stefan? Have you talked to him?"

"She'll say the same answer she told me," Aurelia tilted her head as she turned to them.

"He's avoiding me."

"Why?" Caroline asked, very curious now. Much like Aurelia.

Elena took a deep breath, "It's complicated."

"And there it is." Aurelia laughed, getting Caroline to join in.

The bell then rang, making Elena and Aurelia say goodbye and walk to history class. As they sat in their usual seats, Aurelia opened her backpack and got her notebook out. She hoped their next teacher would be nothing like Tanner, or else she would be doodling the entire lesson. Which was highly unlikely since she only does that when she's bored.

As the second bell rang, Bonnie rushed in looking tired and out of it. Someone behind her grabbed Aurelia's attention. He was a man, someone she wasn't familiar with.

"Good morning, everyone." The mystery man started, and Aurelia now realized he was the replacement, "Alrighty. Alaric Saltzman," He pointed to the words on the chalkboard, "It's a mouthful, I know. It doesn't exactly roll off the tongue."

Aurelia's eyes fell on Bonnie again, mouthing the words 'Is everything okay', receiving a shrug. She gave her a nod and put her attention back on the new teacher, "Saltzman is of German origins. My family migrated here in 1755 to Texas. I, however, was born and raised in Boston."
