My eyes were wide open with no trace of sleep as always...

"I wonder if I have insomnia?" I thought to myself and sighed.

Yesterday was my 19th birthday...no one wished me because they probably forgot every year. Well...What can I do? My parents are not as bad even when I am adopted. They are nice people plus they have been taking care of me for years now.

I have never seen my parents because I was raised in an orphanage since birth but suddenly a couple came to look for a child aged five...I wasn't happy because I had to leave my friends behind and for my age I was already wise enough to think about the worst scenarios about them being bad humans. Which to my surprise wasn't true, they sure loved me and took me out from there. I never had time to think about my real parents because it's useless to use that much brain. They left and that's it!

Back to present, as I come downstairs I see my dad doing dishes and mom cleaning the living area.

"Hey Pear, Good morning! Did you sleep well?" Asked mom and I just nodded with a smile but she knew I couldn't get much sleep. I always have dark eye bags so literally no one believes whenever I say I slept well haha.

My father gave me a nod and I knew he meant for me to eat something and continue my day like I always do.

As I was having a piece of toasted bread with milk tea, the car horn sounded outside making me jump out of my seat. I quickly finish my lukewarm tea and run outside with the toast in my hand saying goodbye to mom and dad.

As I got closer to the car I saw Matthew waiting for me. My friend and someone I like a lot, he always used to pick me up for college since he got a car from his parents. As I got into the car I saw a figure on the backseat, I didn't have the time to observe who he was, I just got in the front seat.

"Hello, how are you!" I said excited.

"Hello, little sunshine! I'm fine but you don't look fine at all judging by your dark circles!" Matthew remarks and I just chuckle at him.

Before I could ask him about the guy behind.

"He's my childhood friend and she's the girl I always talk to you about." Matthew said it nonchalantly and I turned my head back to say hello.

"Hi, nice to meet you." I smile at him, he smiles back and nods without saying anything. His smile was quite soft and minimal almost like a formality. His dark brown hair looked messy, his eyes blue mixed with a hint of grey. "Pretty eyes" that's the first thing that came to my mind when I saw him.
