Usagi sat down, a pout on her face as she sat across from Kankuro.

"What happened to you?" Kankuro asked.

"... Same thing that happened to you." Her answer was bitter, her pout turning into a frown.

"Akatsuki beat you too?"

Usagi nodded. "Now... I'm stuck here..." She lay back down again, her long red hair fanning out around her.

"I know the feeling." Kankuro let out a sigh. He was on the way to recovery, but useless for the time being.

Usagi still couldn't walk properly. The blood loss she had suffered from her fight made her lightheaded when she moved too much, but she was still able use her rinnegan and jutsus. She just had to do so at a more relaxed pace.

"... Kakashi was pissed." Kankuro said.

"... Don't remind me."

"Do you run away a lot?" He questioned. "It sounds like you have a tendency to just leave without any notice."

"I have my reasons..."

"..." It was quiet for a minute. "Usagi." Kankuro broke the silence. "You're not..." He paused. "Are you..."

Usagi looked towards Kankuro. His dark eyes were focused on her. Focused on her a little too much.

"... Kankuro?"

"... Forget it." He moved his head, his eyes moving from Usagi to the ceiling above.

"..." Usagi stared at him for a moment. She sighed, shrugging it off. 'Whatever.'

Kankuro inwardly cursed. Now was not the time. His brother was missing, kidnapped by people who almost killed him, and here he was-

"I can't hear... Shukaku anymore." Usagi whispered. This was wrong, while she had been staying in the hospital, she had been able to hear the faint but constant murmurs of the One Tailed beast. To not be able to hear him at all? She couldn't even comprehend it. The sudden silence scared her beyond normality.

"..."

"Do... Gaara..." Usagi put a hand over her mouth. She felt sick. Sick to the pit of her stomach.

'... Usagi...' Shukaku's voice boomed in her head. '... Help.'
