jadis pov
how am i ever going to perfect this witch spell? i sigh deeply and cutely while working on my emo witchcraft. tonight was important. i needed to be perfect for the sacrifice of a human. being a beta witch is...well...pretty hard!!!! i wish to be an alpha so bad so my powers could be better but...at least im not an omega i guess...
"jadis!!!", my mother lucinda called from the depths of our witchy mansion. i located her with my powers and went straight to her.
lucinda: i need to talk to you about something important...about tonight.
jadis: yes mother, what is it?
lucinda: well, as you know the sacrifice is tonight and aside from being perfection, there's something else you should know of....
jadis: spit it out already mom!!!
lucinda: alright... this day is so special because there isn't gonna be just a full moon. it's a lunar eclipse. tonight is extra powerful than any other night could be. you've got to really concentrate. we don't want to possess the human. we just want to take her soul incase something happens to one of us in the future, got it?
jadis: okay...is that it?
lucinda: no, actually, there's one more thing. we're going to be doing the sacrifice in the blood eye forest...meaning, there's a possibility there'll be vampires roaming around.
jadis: but...i thought vampires were extinct???
lucinda: i truly don't think that's true. there's still a pack of vampires living deep in those woods. we aren't planning to go that far into the woods though, so we should be fine.
jadis: what? will they hurt us if they find out?
lucinda: possibly...those vampires were the ones who destroyed our forests with their fire magic...all we could've done is hex them for life...but they're far more powerful. we're witches, we have sorcery magic using our forests herbs...without it, we are weaker. they have it all. let's just say that if one of the torches accidentally gets left behind, it'll ruin them a little too. im still surprised they haven't banned us from their forest...maybe they put some protection spell on it. but i could feel their anger and i know they're hiding in there after all these years.
jadis: so...do you personally know them? you know....the vampires?
lucinda: i knew one very well. their name was zolan. they had a great sense of humor and we would be the bestest of friends...until one day they became the vampire pack leader and they completely ignored my existence...i knew they didn't mean it though...i knew it had to do with their parents not letting us talk anymore but...it still hurts sometimes.
jadis: oh mother, im so sorry...why wouldn't they let you guys talk? there's no harm in that?
lucinda: some vampires just don't like witches communicating with them. just like how some witches don't like communicating with vampires. you could do whatever you want sweetie, just know, you might get really hurt. i don't want you to get hurt.
jadis: don't worry mom. i'm not planning on getting close with any vampires.
lucinda: alright...so, how's your practicing going?
jadis: uh...not so good. i still can't get the latin right in the middle section.
lucinda: keep practicing, you'll get it soon.
jadis: i will
i slowly went upstairs overthinking everything about vampires. i wanted to know more. i've never been told so much information about them let alone thought my mother knew one. i kept practicing for a few more minutes and i finally got the spell right. i think i was ready...no...i was ready.
finally, the sun was set and we were on our way to the blood eye's forest. it was almost 9pm, but we needed time to prep and set up for the ritual. my job was setting up the candles to surround all the witches. we were about 20, and each of us had something to do. once we finished, it was 10:30pm and we were talking amongst each other. at 11:15 we start.
i was talking with another witch when i heard a noise. it sounded almost like a siren singing a tune. i looked around but nobody seemed to be singing. i ignored it at first, but then it kept getting louder. it was coming from behind me. i decided i wanted to find out who was singing and followed the voice. i spent about 5 minutes walking deeper into the woods, and was starting to get worried. i turned around to go back but all of a sudden, the voice stopped. it was dead silent and i couldn't even hear the witches.
"hello there witch"
i jumped and started running back, but i tripped on air and it slowed me down. i looked behind me and nobody was following me so i took a deep breath. i turned back around and saw a tall masculine figure in front of me. i thought it was a man, but as it got closer i figured out it was a woman...a vampire. she had long wavy black hair with grayish hazel eyes...and of course, super pale. she was about 5 inches taller than me and was wearing a burgundy suit.
jadis: h-hello....w-who are you?
selene: the real question is, who are you? you're in my forest...and i know you're definitely not a vampire. more like a witch if you ask me.
jadis: my names jadis and i am a witch...what about it?
selene: well if you're a witch, what are you doing here? get out.
jadis: hey, i'm sure we could work this out. i'm just doing my job.
selene: your job? what kind of job in vampire territory? you're not making any sense. just get out before i make you get out.
jadis: i can't leave yet. i have to head back though. i won't tell anyone about this if you just let me go.
selene: anyone? are there more of you witches in our forest?
jadis: please just let me go...
selene: tell me what you're doing here and i will.
jadis: okay okay...it's a sacrifice for the lunar eclipse...
selene: hmm...so a human i assume?
jadis: yes, and the ritual will start soon so i have to go.
selene: fine, i will. just letting you know that once the blood is drawn out, don't blame us for trying to steal it. we can sense once there's good human blood near.
jadis: alright...what's your name anyway?
selene: don't you have a ritual to be at?
i glare at her madly and start making my way back. this vampire seemed...different. she was just like how mother described vampires to act but...something felt odd.
i finally made it back and lots of people were asking where i went off too, but i just said i really needed to pee. the full lunar eclipse moon was starting to rise and we were ready to begin. i was worried about the part where we have to pour her blood in the golden cup, but i couldn't be stressed right now. i had to concentrate.
Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica. Ergo, omnis legio diabolica, adiuramus te...cessa decipere humanas creaturas, eisque æternæ perditionìs venenum propinare...Vade, satana, inventor et magister omnis fallaciæ, hostis humanæ salutis...Humiliare sub potenti manu Dei; contremisce et effuge, invocato a nobis sancto et terribili nomine...quem inferi tremunt...Ab insidiis diaboli, libera nos, Domine. Ut Ecclesiam tuam secura tibi facias libertate servire, te rogamus, audi nos.
this is it...this is the part. i watched as my mother cut the humans chest and poured the blood in the cup. i was a nervous wreck, but how could i not be? i started to hear voices and sounds getting closer and closer, but i wasn't sure if they were real or if my brain was making it all up. i gulped hard and stopped breathing for a second. i felt the leaves and sticks on the floor crunching as if footsteps were getting closer. i knew they were here. and i knew we were surrounded by not just candles, but by vampires too.
suddenly, a candle fell on a piece of wood which caused a small fire to occur. it got bigger and bigger though as the flame was getting everywhere. all the witches were panicking and i was just standing there in shock. i don't know who, but something pulled my arm and took me somewhere, by then i passed out and didn't know what was happening. what was happening?
