Wang decides to take a detour instead of his usual route home. Suddenly, he catches on malicious laughter and follows the sound - to find four cat abusers, from the infamous Jaakuna Academy, their clothes littered with cat scratches.
(thought) Matsushiba District has two schools - Matsushiba and Jaakuna. While mine is famed and prestigious, theirs is like a houseful of delinquents. Normally, I wouldn't want to cross paths with them, but...
Cats are mewling desperately. One
(Wang) "Hey! Quit it!" "Leave them alone!"
(Jaakuna student 1) "Ya think ya so cool, dressin' up in yer big brother's uniform? It's a hundred years too early to raise yer voice here. Run back home and cry to mama."
(Wang) "Oh really? It's a thousand years too early for you to pick a fight against me." He props his bag against a wall. "I give you five seconds to rethink your words."
(Jaakuna student 2) "Soooo scary." (sarcastic)
He attempts to punch Wang but the younger dodges and flips him. The other three rush to aid their lackey. Wang calmly prepares himself for a fight.
"Such insolence... Calls for the more painful correction."
Wang defeats each of them with one single strike.
"Meeeeeooooowwww~"
The cats seem panicked, but overall alright, for the mother cat and her kitten, to say at least. There is another cat, strangely large with pointing ears, striking red fur, and a bushy tail, has taken most of the damage and is now slightly injured. Still, taking a stance by his feet, it hisses challengingly at its attackers.
"We're just going easy on you! Better watch out next time!" The Jaakuna students remarks, running off.
"As if!" Wang sighs, "Why is that Jaakuna Academy still standing, anyway. Though I suppose there must be a place for the likes of them to survive."
"Are you alright?" He turns to the cats.
Cats are common on Mirai Island. They are known to guide the lost and protect humans from pests; some legends even said that they might possess supernatural powers, though Wang doubts their viability. Born in Guangxi, China, Wang moved to Mirai Island to enjoy some fresh air, and after years in of life in Japan, he has gotten used to casually chatting to cat.
He takes some snacks out of his bag and places them in front of the cats.
"Here, eat this. Especially you," he eyes the red cat, "Eating helps your injuries to heal faster. I wish I'd packed some more food, but that's all I have today. I'll be sure to bring you more tomorrow."
