Butterflies & Stitches

Chapter 1.

Kiara.

BEEP BEEP BEEP!! I groan loudly and turn around to turn off my alarm. I keep hitting it but it fails to turn off which results in me throwing it at the wall. It slams against the wall and the pieces fall to the floor. I throw my pillow over my face and try to block out the sunlight. I refuse to get up and face that horrendous sunlight at this time in the morning. My thoughts leave me as my door swings open and my annoying sister runs into my room. She slams into my side and the wind is knocked from my lungs.

"What are you doing Lindsay, seriously get lost!" I shout.

"Mom said I had to wake you, you know we have to go to Dad's today"

I groan again and push her off, she just had to remind me of the fact we're meant to go to dad's for the summer. I have dug my heels in about this since Mom announced it and my feeling's haven't changed on the subject. I refuse to go play happy families with the guy who up and left us. Not to mention the fact that he's announced he has a new girlfriend. My mom is a pain in my ass but I still feel so sorry for her, he just traded her in for a newer model as if she was some old car, or a pair of shoes.

"Kiara hurry up, don't make me come up there and get you out of bed, we have to be at the airport for 9:15" Mom shouts up the stairs infuriating me even more.

I throw the covers off myself and rise from my bed, I head to the bathroom to pee and brush my teeth. I turn the shower on and strip off before getting under the hot water. The steam erupts around the room as the scent of my favourite coconut body wash penetrates the air. I don't bother to wash my hair as it will take far too long to work with if I do so I simply shut the water off and step out. I wrap myself up in a towel and walk out to my wardrobe, I decide on a pair of stretchy green shorts and a matching green crop top.

I get dressed, put on some lotion and body spray then I head downstairs. I stop on the last step so no one can hear me as I listen in to my Mom and Lindsay's conversation. "I'm so excited to see the beach Mom, it's going to be amazing I hear that there's loads of stuff to do, like surfing and there's like this massive arcade and I'm gonna get Dad to take me to the Mall and I'm gonna make him buy me so much ice cream cause he's been such a shit Dad"

"LINDSAY!" Mom scolds.

"Do not speak like that, I brought you up with manners, your father isn't a shit Dad, we just went through a divorce is all and he decided to move, it doesn't mean he is shit, it's just life honey and sometimes these things happen," Mom says.

I stomp into the kitchen and glare at her with my hands on my hips. "Mom I'm not going to Dad's it's simple I refuse, I refuse to leave my friend's, I refuse to not have the summer that I planned out and I refuse to live with Dad and his new piece of ass!"

Mom turns to me and scowls at me, "Kiara your going it's simple, if you refuse then your Dad is coming out here to get you and I would rather not to have to see him, so go upstairs and pack your stuff or I'll do it for you" she looks at me with a raised brow and I know she's being serious.

I turn around and slump back up the stairs, I slam my door behind me and walk to my closet. I start packing my suitcase and by the time I'm done Mom is shouting that we need to leave. I head to the door and take one final look at my room seeing as it's the last time I'll see it for 8 weeks. I walk down the stairs and out to the car I put my suitcase in the back and I get in the front seat. I refuse to look at my Mom as she drives to the airport I simply stare out the window whilst listening to my music.

We pull up and I get out and retrieve me and Lindsay's suitcases. Mom hugs Lindsay before coming over to hug me. I reluctantly hug her back and then I turn around and walk away without saying another word. I can't look at her right now, the fact that she is sending me to dad's and not giving me a choice in the matter has left me feeling so angry and hurt, I walk into the airport and we head to check in.
