Mias POV:
'So we fucked, sorry I know you don't want to hear that. But his phone rang probably 10 times before he put it on silent, and even then I could still hear it vibrating.' I said, putting my tea down on the table infront of me.Lando's face was still scrunched up at the abrupt ambush with a story he really did not want to hear before his breakfast, but I could see him trying to figure out what was going on at the same time.
I'd shared a bed with Charles that night, and snuck out in the morning, back to my own room, texting Lando to meet me for breakfast.
We were at a cafe just down the road from the hotel, so we'd not have Danny or Max trying to lip read, and it was nice to get out for once.
'And this was after the party? So like, early morning?' He asked.
I nodded.
'No manager or businessperson would be calling that late.' I added.
'You're right, but I really do think it's nothing to worry about.' He sighed, finishing his coffee and pushing it away from him.
'You really think?' I asked, frowning at him a little.
'If there was something he was keeping from you, it would've wriggled its way into the press or the paddock by now.' Lando stated.
He was right. These drivers couldn't do a thing without being papped, It was just digging away at me.
'It's going to drive me crazy.' I stated bluntly.
'Oh it'll drive you absolutely mad, but trust me. I'm sure he's just planning a surprise for you or something.' He shrugged.
'And the surprise planner was desperate to speak to him at 2am?' I questioned.
A small smile slipped onto his lips and he nudged me, before turning to a waiter and calling for the bill.
'Mia. I'll figure out what's going on, but he's a good guy and he loves you. I don't want any more conflict between you two over things that can be avoided.' He said.
'You're sounding rather grown up.' I teased.
'Someone around here has to be.' He responded, paying for the drinks and leaving a tip, before getting up to pull my seat back for me.
'We're flying to the next race tonight and I'm sure if I hadn't just told you that you wouldn't have known.' I said, laughing a little at the shock and panic that painted his face.
'I did know.' He protested.
'Oh yeah? What time?'
'6pm.' He muttered.
'9:30, but close.' I teased, following him back through the front doors of the hotel and into the lift.
'Get ready and meet me and Danny here in 10. a late flight gives us time to explore.' He said, wiggling his eyebrows.
'Have you packed?' I questioned.
'I can do that in 10.' He responded, getting off at his floor and heading to his room to supposedly speed pack.
I unlocked my door and saw a note sitting on my bed, next to a singular rose and a box finished off with a bow. I was smiling before I'd even opened it, sitting on the edge of my bed to read the note left for me.
5pm, make sure you're ready. I found a dress that would match the occasion, I'll meet you here.
I love you
I looked at the time, smiling when I realised I had time to go out with my brother and Lando before I had to get ready to meet Charles, as it was only 10:30.
It was hot, and so I put on as little as I could without Danny sending me back upstairs to change, and grabbed a drink of water from the fridge, bringing it down to the lobby with me.
Danny was there, but Lando wasn't, and I knew that was because he had realised he couldn't pack in just 10 minutes. Danny looked up at his phone, smiling at me and pulling me into a soft hug.
'He drag you down here too?' He asked, referencing Lando.
'It didn't take much convincing. I can't remember the last time we were able to explore before flying to the next country.' I responded, putting my phone on silent and into my pocket.
'I know, it's nice to breathe for half a day.' He smiled.
'How you feeling about the empty seat?' I asked him.
He leaned in, a grin on his face.
'Don't tell anyone. But I might not be leaving next year after all.' He said, tapping his nose securely, leaving me speechless just in time for Lando to come bounding round the corner.
Of course I couldn't ask, as his team mate and probably a lot of his team were unaware, so I had to wait until later on to question where he was going.
It'd better not be red bull.
'So, Canada tonight huh?' Lando said, linking his arm with mine and opening the door of his car, watching as me and Daniel fought over the front seat.
'I've never been.' I responded.
'What? Didn't you follow Danny through the entire championship a few years ago?' Lando asked, starting the car.
I laughed. He hadn't even been teammates with Daniel then but he was such a f1 superfan he could tell you the answer of probably anything.
'She was sick, flew home a few days before.' Daniel responded.
'This is so exciting. You'll get to go to Canada for the first time.' Lando smiled.
'Why is it so exciting?' I asked, slowly.
'Well we have to go skiing!' He exclaimed.
'No.' Me and Daniel both said in unison.
I looked at my brother and he pointed at my leg, making us both laugh before he even finished his sentence.
'Broken leg, age 13, doing a cartwheel and landing on a rock. Think about how many rocks she'll encounter when she's skiing.' Daniel explained.
'She's not gonna go into the rocks is she.' Lando rolled his eyes, annoyed my brother was ruining his fun.
'She most definitely will.'
I looked away from their bickering long enough to check my phone, seeing I had a few texts from Charles and one from Lewis.
Lewis: hope everything's doing better today, I've taken the boys out for lunch, Pierre AND Charles. I'll let you know how it goes
I smiled, thankful someone else was also worried about their friendship. I knew that Max was secretly thrilled at the drama, knowing it would show its face on the track. I didn't want either one of them to die over a silly argument.
Charles: Lewis said us boys were going out for lunch. PIERRE is here
Me: I mean, he is one of you.
Charles: barely. I can't be ok with him after what he did to you. We ended up sat opposite eachother too. This isn't a coincidence. I'm going to make sure Lewis's jet crashes.
Me: not if I'm on it please
Charles: wait, you're not flying with me?
Me: I am but that's not my point.
Charles: perfect, fuck the jet
