I can hear the faint whooshing of wind around me as a float, pulled by some kind of magnet, towards my destination. I feel light and stranded and free all at once, separated from my body but still alive.
Then, suddenly, I feel myself piecing back together again, faint blue mist fading into my flesh, depositing me softly onto cool stone.
I stumble a little, trying to get my bearings, but happy to be back on solid ground. All around me, my friends are also taking shape, transported here by Link's Purah Pad.
I look around, and see sand. Not the light sands of the Hateno beaches, but red-orange sand, the sand of the desert.
"Gerudo?" Yunobo says loudly, looking slightly nauseated, "I thought all the towns had been taken."
"As far as we know, the attack started at the castle," signs Link, who is very used to this mode of travel, "so they probably would've taken longer to reach here, if they deployed most of their firepower to the north. Plus, I just needed to get us out of there, and so I just picked somewhere. To be honest, I wasn't even sure that would work!" he laughs nervously.
"Wait, let me get this straight," says Riju, who is hunched over and looking a little green, "you transported us through time and space, to a city which we don't know is safe, in a way you didn't know would work?!"
"Yeah," he signs, sheepish, "it was the only way I could think of to get us out of there. Plus, we're all okay now, aren't we?"
Riju mumbles something else, but drops the matter, and we start walking towards the gates, sweating in the midday heat and still in our underclothes from the swim. Purah is quiet, looking very proud but also weirded out with what her invention accomplished.
As we approach the front gates, a siren goes off somewhere inside the town, and a loud speaker addresses us.
"In light of recent events, the town of Gerudo is not currently letting anyone in or out of the gates," a voice says, "please return to Kara Kara- Queen Riju?"
There is shouting from inside the gates, the sound of running, gears turning, and the gates open, Bularia (surrounded by many other members of the Gerudo guard,) stepping outside.
"My queen," says Bularia, formal as always, "are you hurt? We thought you had surely been captured at Hyrule castle! Of course, we had hoped..."
"We escaped," proclaims Riju in a commanding voice, "and we learned of the Yiga's plans. Now is not the time to discuss them, I'm afraid. We are in grave danger."
Besides a mumble from Sidon that sounds suspiciously like "Clan's Plans", there is silence as we make our way through the gates and into Riju's throne room, greeted with cheers and whoops from the townspeople, along with confusion at the voes allowed through the gates.
We fill Bularia in, telling her about the plan of the Yiga and how they'd most likely be here soon to try to take over. We also tell her about Sidon and Riju's new found powers, and the Purah Pad. She just shakes her head.
"We know a lot of that already; about the Yiga, at least," she says sadly, "we were attacked soon after we heard reports of the attack on the castle. Being so far south, we heard rumors and were able to prepare. We also had the advantage of knowing how the Yiga think, having dealt with them before. We managed to fight them off, but they promised they'd be back."
"Then... how did you know about the leader of the Yiga? And the spying and the deal with the monsters?" I ask, confused.
"Oh," says Bularia, "we might have kidnapped one of the intruders and, uh, asked him some questions."
