• feeling of vast happiness •

"From the little green grass to red tulips, only your smile reaches up to the sky, kissing my cheeks."

I jumped to my feet as soon as Mr. Baek stopped the bicycle in front of the border camp, my mind overflowing with happiness that made tinge of red blush crawl up to my face and whispered its prominent presence to my ears. I fixed the rosy scarf around my neck, smiling upon the coincidence because it was the same scarf Seokjin had given to me when he came home for spending the winter vacation last year.

Back then he hadn't started writing letters; but throwing me occasional winks whenever he would see me chatting with my friends, taking my palms between his without any proper excuse and dragging me for a walk, blowing flower petals at my direction and laughing everytime I crunched my nose and let out a sneeze - told many unspoken truths that lingered in both of our minds.

I chuckled at the gleeful memories, and looked around my surroundings to get a proper vision. The border camp was full in military soldiers; they were doing warm - ups in the field while everyone maintained files. Another pack of them was standing beside the huge, irony net which separated the village from intruders.

Sunlight was peeking through the summits of the tall mountains, and landed on the green grass filled with red tulips and crystal dew drops. Sound of soldiers kicking their boots on the ground was the only thing that I managed to hear between different noises. I turned around, and asked Mr. Baek who also got down from his bicycle,

"Mr. Baek? Where is he?"

"Patience, girl, patience." he let out a hearty chortle, and pointed at the ground from the small hill we were standing on, "Having patience gives the sweetest result."

"I have waited enough!" I whined, only to let out an yelp as a sudden thought struck my head, "Mr. Baek! Oh my, I forgot to bring something for him! I am here without even a gift!"

"Aish, Tani..." he adjusted his bag, eyes wondering down at the crowd of soldiers who were listening to their commander and yelling an yes after seconds, "He doesn't need a gift. Meeting with you is everything."

"It's not...Mr. Baek!" I pouted in annoyance, "Imagine meeting your handsome major general crush with zero bank balance...that will be a disaster -"

"Tani, stop blabbing." the post man huffed and gripped onto my shoulders lightly, turning me around to face the ground downwards, "And look who it is."

"What the -" I muttered but stopped immediately, as soon as my eyes fell upon a particular figure marching on the field.

His long, bare arms were tucked inside the pockets of his lower military uniform, a chestnut tinted belt embracing the curves of his waist elegantly. The man's broad shoulders were maintaining the momentum of striding and showing a rough posture all together, as his sun worn biceps tightened and reached out to fix the black sunglasses over his eyes.

"No, no, no, I will leave the sector A here, Mr. Han." he stopped on his track and turned towards another militant, voice dropping an octave and emitting strictness, "General Seonhee will continue with them after me. Get the sector B ready."

"Yes, General Kim Seokjin."

The militant named Han gave him a salute and left his side. The general nodded, and watched as the latter walked towards the base camp. He sighed, his green boots pacing on the ground to go uphill. Warm tangerine rays fell upon his glasses, while he looked up at the two figures waiting in front of him.

At the moment, my breaths grew ragged and palms started to sweat.

It felt like a thousands of flaming emotions had hit me together and threw me off guard, my eyes blinking rapidly to adjust with the scene of having a familiar person standing forwards and gazing at my direction. My chest welled up, daring to let out the bird flapping inside my ribcage that fought hard to taste independence. I parted my lips, no sound leaving my mouth as I only stared at him, trying to cop up with the peaceful silence.

Seokjin's hands lifted up to his eyes, pulling out the sunglasses in a swift motion. Slowly, his lips tugged upwards, forming a smile that reached to the indigo sky then the green grass and red tulips, also kissing my own cheeks.

"Tani?"

I let out a chuckle that resonated through the deep blush smeared across my dimples, and ran towards Seokjin's standing figure. Taking big steps, I leaped into his open embrace; the force causing him to tumble a bit but he regained his posture immediately.

"I missed you..." I murmured on his collar, inhaling the familiar scent that reminded me of my home, "So much."

"I missed you too, Tani." he wrapped his arms around my waist, embracing me tightly, "It's been an year. A whole twelve months without you. I can't even believe how fast time passes by."

I didn't speak anything, only felt my heart vibrating against my chest in a rapid speed. It was surely months since he had last seen me, and I had seen him, because he was always packed with his schedules in the camp. To stay between his arms, it felt like the most endearing tranquillity I could ever get a hold of.

"Close your eyes." I withdrew my head away from his shoulders a little, his fingers still locked around my waist. He raised his eyebrows, throwing me an wink,

"Oh, why? I didn't even complain that you really crushed my bones, Tani -"

"Close your eyes!" I demanded, trying to suppress my laughter. He narrowed his gaze for a moment, then accepted my request.

"Okay, I am closing my eyes, keep it under eighteen plus though -"

I didn't let him finish, but placed a swift peck on his right cheek.

Seokjin quickly opened his eyes, gaze widening at my giggling sight. He placed his palm where I had just left a kiss, rubbing on it and giving me a what- was- that - for look. But I forestalled him, and confessed cutely,

"I love you, Mister General."
