I stood in my bathroom, just staring in the mirror. I had work in 30 minutes but I didn't want to go. I didn't feel like myself today. I opened the cabinet to get my brush, and I brushed through my long, brown hair and I tied it up in a high braided ponytail. I put on my two favorite bracelets, lastly. Once I was ready, I headed downstairs.
I put my work shoes on, grabbed an apple and a gatorade on my way out, and got in the car. I hooked my phone up to my car and began shuffling 5-STAR by Stray Kids. They had released the album yesterday, and I was in love with it.
TOPLINE was the first song to come on, and I started dancing as I drove to work. I waited for Felix's part and when he did his "BOM DIGI DIGI BOM BOM BOM BOM" I squealed in excitement. I guess you can tell Felix is my bias.
I kept driving on the highway until I saw multiple cars stopped, and I did the same. We were at a complete standstill. Fantastic. Pasadena traffic was the worst. Now I'm going to be late for work. I picked up my phone, and called my boss.
"Courtney? It's Ella. I'm stuck in traffic, and I think there's a bad wreck up the road. I'm gonna be a bit late."
Courtney sounded worried, "Ella, are you okay?" I chuckled and responded, "Yes, I'm fine. I will be about 20 minutes late though." She replied, "Okay, be safe driving, okay?" I smiled and said, "Okay. Be there soon."
It took me 15 minutes to get to work. I parked and let DLC finish playing, before I shut off my car and went inside. I threw my apron on, washed my hands, and got to work.
One thing about me, is that I work at a restaurant. I work at a Casey's Cafe, and it doesn't pay much, but it gets me by. I'm one of the best workers there, as people come by to see me.
I swiftly walked to my first table, a family of 4, and introduced myself. "Hi, I'm Mariella, but you can call me Ella. I'll be taking care of you guys this evening. May I get you started with something to drink?"
One of the children, about 4 years old, asked me for chocolate milk, and her mom told her, "Alana, how do you ask?" The girl, Alana, looked back at me and said, "Please, can I have chocolate milk?" I chuckled a little bit and said, "Of course, my dear." I quickly scribbled on my paper.
I looked at the other child, who was about 7, and I asked, "And for you, sweet pea?" She smiled at me and asked, "Can I please have chocolate milk too?" I smiled back and said, "Absolutely!" I scribbled on my paper once more.
I looked at the mother and father and asked, "What can I get for you both?" The mother said, "A strawberry margarita with a side of water please." I smiled, and wrote it down. I glanced at the father, "For you sir?" He replied, "A pina colada with a side of water, as well."
"Thank you, I'll have those out quickly!" I quickly walked away to get those ready, and I went back into the kitchen. I took the chocolate milk out and poured it into two glasses, then set them down on the tray. I then mixed the strawberry margarita and pina colada, and set them on the tray.
I carried the tray out with one hand, and approached the table, smiling. I handed the kind lady and man their drinks, as well as the water, and I handed the two sweet girls their chocolate milk. I took out my pen and paper, and began taking their orders.
Once I finish taking their orders, I went back into the kitchen to help my other coworkers with their orders, while my table was being prepared. After about 20 minutes, one of my coworkers said that my table's food was ready. I grabbed the tray and went out.
I walked back over to the table and started handing out their food. I handed the sweet little girl, Alana, hers, and she said, very sweetly, "Thank you, miss Ella!" That made my heart absolutely melt. I responded with, "You're so very welcome, sweetheart!" I handed her sister her food, to which she thanked me as well. I gave their mother and father their food, and they were very polite when they thanked me. I smiled and said, "Enjoy your meal!" I walked away swiftly.
I walked past as Laci, one of the hosts, led a group of boys over to a table, and I was told I was assigned to that table. I asked her, "How many menus do I need for that table?" She hesitated, "Uh, eight!" I thanked her quickly before walking back towards the table with the kind family.
I looked at the table with the eight men, and I froze. Those men looked strangely familiar. I shrugged it off, as I needed to focus on work. I walked back over to the table with the family, and they had finished eating. I smiled and asked, "How was your meal?" They gave the highest praise in saying it was delicious. I took their plates and headed off to the kitchen.
I set the plates in the sink, quickly washed my hands, and headed back out. I was completely unaware that somebody's eyes were focused on me. I went back over to their table and asked, "Would you all like any dessert, how else may I serve you?" The kind woman spoke up and said, "We are pretty full! I think we're finished for tonight." I smiled and said, "Very well, it was my pleasure to serve you tonight!" They paid for their meal and left me a singular bill on the table. I picked it up and it was a 50 dollar bill. I smiled, as that was very kind of them, and cleaned the table.
Laci walked over to me and told me she would clean, if I wanted to go onto the next table. I agreed, and swiftly walked away.
I began walking over to the table, smiling brightly. Looking up close at them, I saw a boy with beautiful blue hair. This confirmed my suspicions. Stray Kids was in my cafe! I knew all of their faces, and I couldn't believe it. I needed to stay calm. "Hi! Nice to meet you, my name is Mariella, but you can call me Ella! I'll be taking care of you this evening!" I passed around the menus, napkins, and utensils, before asking, "Might I get you all started with something to drink?"
I knew it was Jeongin who spoke first, because he has a really cute voice. He stumbled over his words, trying to speak in English, so I began speaking in Korean. "What can I get you to drink?" His eyes widened in surprise, and responded, "You speak Korean?" I smiled and nodded. His smile grew bigger and he asked very politely, "May I have a Coke please?" I smiled and wrote it down, saying, "Absolutely!"
My eyes flitted over to the person sitting next to him, who I identified as Changbin, and I asked him, "What can I get for you?" He smiled at me, and responded with, "How is the sweet tea?" A huge smile came over my face and I said, "It's my favorite thing to drink here!" Changbin grinned and asked, "May I have one please?" I replied, "Of course!" I scribbled quickly on my notepad.
I turned to the next boy, I quickly identified him as Hyunjin, because of his pink hair. He gave me a little shy smile, and I gave a little one back as I said, "And for you?" He responded, "Can I have a Coke as well?" I quickly jotted it down.
Next I turned to a boy who I identified as Seungmin, and I asked him, "For you?" He surprised me by responding in English, "I'd like a Dr. Pepper, please." My eyes widened in surprise before saying, "Yes, of course!" I wrote it down quickly.
Next up, I turned to Minho, more commonly known to everyone else as Lee Know. I smiled at him and said, "What can I get for you?" He replied, smiling, "Lemonade, please." I said, "Of course," while writing quickly.
Then, I turned to Han. He gave me a warm smile, as I asked him, "What for you?" He replied in English as well, "Do you mix your sweet tea and lemonade?" I smiled brighter, responding with, "We do! It's quite a hit around here." Han smiled, asking, "May I try that?" I grinned back, very excited, responding with, "Absolutely!" I put it in my notepad.
The next person I turned to was Chan, he gave me such a beautiful smile, and he immediately asked in English, "what is the Cherry Fizz?" The biggest smile overtook me as I responded with, "It's my specialty, I make it myself!" Chan gave a small laugh at how excited I was before asking, "What's in it?" I put my index finger to my lips saying, "Now that, is a secret. My secret!" He chuckled a little and he asked for one. I wrote it down.
I turned to the last person, which was Felix, and his eyes were burning into me. He was just staring at me. I cleared my throat trying to keep myself together, and I asked him in English, since it was his first language, "What can I get for you?" With an expression, almost like he was in a trance, he responded with, "Um, may I have a Cherry Fizz as well?" I gave a smile and replied, "Absolutely!" I wrote quickly on my paper.
I put my notepad in my apron and said in Korean, "I will be back with your drinks in a few minutes!" I skipped off to the kitchen and began making their drinks. I finished off with Chan and Felix's. My signature Cherry Fizz is a mixture of Sprite and grenadine, topped with a single cherry. I put all eight glasses on a tray, and began to walk back to their table.
I happily distributed all of their drinks and I said in Korean, "Are you ready to order?" They all nodded and began to place their orders. I wrote down everything on my notepad and noted, "Wonderful! I'll have it all out shortly!" I walked away, and went back into the kitchen, taping the ticket to the shelf, and I went off to go to the restroom.
I bumped into someone in the way there, almost falling before an arm wrapped around my waist, and I began to speak, "I'm sorry, I didn't see you-" I was immediately cut off as I looked up and saw blue hair. I looked directly into Felix's eyes, and we both just stood there, his arm still wrapped around me.
I cleared my throat and stepped back. "Um, thank you for catching me," I said with a light chuckle. He gave me a sweet little smile and said, "It's no problem. I apologize for bumping into you." I smiled and replied, "It's alright, I should have watched where I was going." I looked at him for a solid ten seconds before snapping out of it and saying, "Your food should be ready in a few minutes! I'll go check on it soon." He nodded and smiled, then responded with, "Thank you, I'll see you in a few minutes." He walked away and I just stood there, processing what just happened. I snapped out of it and went to the restroom.
After I came back out, I went to the kitchen to check on the food for the guys. Sure enough, as I arrived, it was all finished. I asked Laci to help me with the trays, and she happily did so. I carried out one tray, and she carried out the other. I approached their table, and Laci and I began distributing the plates.
After the food was given to them, Chan stopped me before I could walk away, and said, while pointing to his drink, "This is arguably the best thing I've ever had to drink." I laughed, and he smiled because I was happy from that compliment. I responded, "Thank you, it's my favorite too." I began to power walk back to the kitchen, I stopped and went back to the table. I said to Chan, "Sprite and grenadine." He looked confused. "Sorry?" I said, "That's the Cherry Fizz. Sprite and grenadine!" He smiled and said, "Thanks! I'll have to make it sometime, it's delicious." I grinned, and walked away.
About 30 minutes later of waiting tables, I saw the boys of my favorite group, all laughing and I noticed they were finished. I strolled over there, and asked, "May I take these out of your way?" Jeongin replied, "Yes, of course!" Each of the boys handed me their plates, and I quickly thanked them before rushing off to the kitchen, setting the plates down.
I looked at the clock and it was getting to be closing time. I strutted back out of the kitchen and began cleaning the tables that were empty. After scrubbing, I retrieved the broom and began to sweep. By the time I was finished it was 10:54 PM and we closed at 11. I saw the boys get up to leave, and I said, "It was my honor to serve you all tonight! Thank you very much!" Minho smiled very sweetly, and replied, "Thank you for everything tonight, you are wonderful at what you do." That made my heart swell, and I felt tears pricking my eyes. I nodded at them and they all filed out together.
I cleaned the table, but not before seeing the tip they left me. Three hundred dollars. Three. Hundred. Dollars. Was I dreaming? I saw a note beside it, and I picked it up and began reading:
"Thank you for being so kind to us tonight. We saw your bracelet, and recognized it because Felix designed it, so we could only assume you're a fan of ours. Thank you for being so sweet, and thank you for supporting us! We hope to see you again soon! -SKZ"
Once again, tears welled up in my eyes. I put the note to my chest, as a tear fell from my eye. A tear of gratitude, because I was so thankful. I put the note and the tip in my apron, and continued my closing duties.
After I finished, I packed up my things, and I said goodnight to everybody, "Goodnight Courtney, night Laci!" And I walked to my car. I unlocked it and hopped in. I began driving to my favorite place.
When I reached my destination, I got out of the car and began walking to the grass. I went to my favorite meadow, as the stars were shining brightly tonight. I laid down on the grass, and watched as the stars shone. Little did I know, that someone was watching me. They approached me, and I was startled a little bit when I heard a deep voice.
"Hey. Nice to see you again," I heard the smile in his voice, and I looked up to see who it was. Sure enough, it was none other than Lee Felix.
