Her body plunged into the water, skirt floating in the new bubbles. All she wanted to do was fade into the abyss of the sea, but knew it'd never come. If she could, would her sisters even respond? After what she had done? The last Kitsune, the last of her kind, ending the species. How shameful was that? Her hair lifted in the water, why wasn't she over this yet?

The war was nearly centuries ago, and she still laid depressed every anniversary, nearly every month, year. She felt as if her survival was her reckoning. Why hadn't she died that day? With her sisters? Now here she was, the last Kitsune, sinking into the deep. Every night, sinking deeper than the last. Remembering how her sisters would call her names, and get upset everytime she splashed them. '海獭' they'd call her, because for a Fox, Y/n loved the sea. She loved getting wet, floating down the endless rivers of china.

But now, here she sank, every night, again. Ever since the day, she hadn't uncloaked herself, ever since that day she was now just Y/n. She wasn't a lost Kitsune too ashamed to show her true form, she was just Y/n. Sinking into an endless sea she used to love. She wondered if her sisters were watching her now, noses up. And just as she did the nights before, she began to sing.

"If I could begin to be, Half of what you think of me, I could do about anything, I could even learn how to love.."
Like you.

Water drops from her hair, falling down her legs onto the sand, she grasped her boots as she walked from the tall beach. Until tomorrow.

Sand crunched beneath her feet, as she walked across the beach's sand. Y/n collapsed into the sand, gazing at the sea beyond. "Stop mocking me." She spoke up, turning the other way. "I know I'm shameful. You didn't have to say that." Y/n sighs, "I know It'll hurt! Ugh, stop smack talking me." She dug her head into her knees. "You always know." She knew nothing was there. She knew that it was just an endless body of water, but it was her closest friend. The only one left. "I'm afraid she always does."

Y/n's head snapped up, a man stood in front of her. "What are you doing in my mindscape? Another way to torture me I assume?" That's when she shut her mouth, the man in front of her was breathtaking. Even for a fox who had been with every Emperor out there, he was impressive. "I would never, In yakunaj." "May I join you?" He asked, "Who am I to deny?" He sat beside the griefing fox. "I have heard your cries, your voice- it allures me." "What has you so troubled, I am not so sure of." "That's just one of the sea's tricks. Who are you?" "You may call me Kukulkan." She hums, "May I ask your name?" She nods, turning to the god. "Y/n." He smiled, his claws were digging deeper into his prey. It was his after all, she just didn't know it yet.

"Who do you cry for? In the sea." "I'm that loud huh?" She snickers, showing her fangs. A light blush appeared on his cheeks, he had made her laugh. "You may think the sea isn't listening, but she is. And she tells me all." Y/n shrugs, "At Least she responds to you." "She has responded to you, yakunaj. She sent you me, as she has sent me you." Y/n raises an eyebrow at the strange man. "You are strange.." She began, "But I like it. It would be better if you didn't change." Her words struck all the chords within the God's heart. "You prefer me strange?" Namor asked, with a smile. "Of course." Y/n turns back to the sea. "Too bad you are just a dream." He grabs her hand, "I am no dream. I hear you every night, every year. Your voice sends me to sleep as she sent me here."

"You're a very real dream. I didn't realize I was going crazy already." She sighs, "Maybe we can go crazy together." His brows furrowed, "Perhaps I will show you how real I am next time we meet." This makes her glance back to the man, "My next dream? Good luck. I barely sleep once a month. You should show up in my other dreams." She thought about the man protecting her from her nightmares grasp, it warmed her core. "You are not crazy, In reina." He tilts her head up, "You are a goddess."
