An ear splitting shriek ricocheted throughout the city, followed by the suffocating scent of smoke and ash. A red cloud of smoke burst from the ground like a volcano, its devastating heat scorching the nearby land and toppling the skyscrapers erected upon it as blistering embers erupted from the site of detonation. A defeaning thunderess explosion reverberated across the cataclysmic city drowning out the desperate pleas and blood curdling screams of civilians.
I awoke amongst a pandemonium of flame and blanket of scarlet smoke. I found myself in a crater that I had caused during my "explosion". The last thing I remembered was standing within a storm, my feet firmly on the ground as my hair whipped against my face and my dress beat against my bare legs in the tremendous flurry. Rage coiled and bellowed inside my gut like a blazing inferno of chaos as I watched the city tear and burn before my eyes. Pure energy and power throbbed and pulsated in my veins and uncoiled destruction flowed through me and tears flowed from my eyes.
Now I was laying in the ash and dirt of an enormous crater, unmoving and weak. I felt utterly drained and my energy had completely depleted. My body was worn and bloody but at least I was alive, despite going in and out of consciousness.
There was nothing left.
Until I saw a figure. A silhouette of hope craved into the luminous smoke that filled the landscape. A man.
A beautiful man with chiseled cheekbones and a striking jawline stepped out of the smoke. He wore no shirt and had dark hair and protruding muscular arms. A ring of light in the form of a halo hovered above his head. As he neared, I noticed two glorious feathered wings.
This was no man. It was an angel.
I was at peace.
The man looked familiar in a comforting sort of way and when he reached out to touch my face, I wasn't scared.
And when he did, I felt all the breath and remaining energy drain from my body and everything went black.
I had finally left this world. And I was content.
