The oak trees with their bright green leaves were speckled throughout the forest. Wesson was driving because we had to drive on a small dirt road to get to our campsite and I couldn't have been happier because it allowed me time to admire the deep forest that laid around us. We chose a campsite that was deep into the densely forested portion of the woods and was desolate from any other campsites. Streams that flowed with water so clean it appeared as if it sparkled were lightly placed around. The grass gently waved in the breeze of the cool summer wind and a smile spread across my face as I looked ahead to see Kai and Lola awaiting our arrival at the campsite. They had met up a few hours earlier than Wesson and I to go ahead and set up the tent and stack stones for the fire. The tent was light grey with bright orange trim running along the edges and corners. It had a skylight on it that was positioned at the top of the back wall of the tent and made from a black mesh that allowed light to pass into it moderately well, which was one of the reasons it remained my favorite to camp with.
We drove up to the beautifully created campsite and stepped out of the truck into the fresh, clean air. It appeared that Kai and Lola cleared the campsite of sticks, stones, and any other debris that would have been a nuisance and they created a sturdy and well-made fire pit with stones as well. It felt nice to be in nature with friends and not carrying any worries on the trip with us.
"What a nice campsite I see," teased Wesson as he grabbed the camping chairs from the back of the truck.
"It might have taken longer than expected, but we got this big ole' tent up and nobody—", Lola shouted and then stopped and took a deep breath in. Me, along with Kai and Wesson, stared at her while all sharing a confused look because of the abrupt pause in her speech. "AND I MEAN NOBODY, BETTER MESS IT UP!" She jokingly exclaimed while digging in her purse for a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.
Lola was the bold type. She said what she felt and didn't think twice about it. She was twenty-two, 5"5 with shiny, long blonde hair, and her eyes gleamed a gorgeous light green shade. She was always down to do anything and a big adventurer, although hiking required extra stops if she was attending because the impact to her lungs that her cigarette addiction had created made its presence known with shortness of breath and moments of gasping for air.
Then Kai, he's the type that only has two sides and nothing in between. One side is funny, outgoing, and loves to hang out and have a good time while the other side is quiet, reserved, and doesn't want to be messed with or spoken to. He was twenty-three and stood at 6"0. His hair was dark brown, short, and neatly swooped to the left and his eyes were a deep ocean blue. He, just like Lola, had a vigorous cigarette addiction and would occasionally swap his cigarettes out and puff on a vape instead.
Next is Wesson, whom is my absolutely precious husband. He was always very kind to everyone and treated me as if I was the queen of the world. No doubt, he had his hateful streaks, but he was the man of my dreams. He was twenty-four years of age and about 5"10 with gorgeous light brown hair that he kept pretty short and swooped over to the side. His eyes were a stunning baby blue and his personality shined a light on my darkest days.
My name was Naomi, but Wesson and my friends just called me Nao. I feel as if I was a pretty standard person, although I did always try to be as kind as I possibly could. I had long, straightened chocolate brown hair and my eyes gleamed a mossy green. I was twenty three years of age and stood at 5"6 on a good day, or 5"10 in my favorite club heels.
"Well, let's get your truck unpacked and get completely set-up for the night so that we don't have to worry about trying to do things during the dark night hours," Kai politely gestured to Wesson and I.
