Mid/late 1900s~

Bustling scientists were everywhere, cramping the already small space further. They all had on long stereotypical lab coats that almost reached the floor. A large, husky man walked through the crowd, parting the anxious scientists as they rushed to get out of his way. Every step he took shook the floor, and scientists scrambled before him, looking like tiny ants compared to his hulking figure, as he made his way across the room. He approached the door at the end of the hallway and leaned down to reach the handle. He flung it open, turning the heads of the scientists that were currently working.

“Hello sir,” they all greeted him monotonously.

“Good evening gentlemen,” He paused for a couple of seconds and then grimaced, “And ladies. How is the project coming along?”

“Very well, sir, he is responding quite well to the tests and different stimuli,” one of the scientists spoke up.

The man nodded thoughtfully, “Good, good. We will need to introduce him to the cabin soon.”

“Sir, are you sure he is ready for that? Should we have a few more visits with the parents first?” A small, shaky voice leaked through the crowd, a younger scientist nervously clutched at a clipboard as she waited for his answer with bated breath.

“No,” he replied harshly, making the scientist flinch. “The kid can see his parents when he has been in the cabin for a while. He needs to get accustomed to the place he will be living in without any influence from his parents. The worst thing that could happen is him constantly asking us for them. He needs to be able to thrive alone.” The mans voice was completely devoid of emotion and compassion for the kid that he was speaking about.

“Yes sir,” the scientist squeaked out, looking away and getting right back to what she was doing before she had spoken up. The man continued the walk around the room, occasionally checking on random scientists and making sure they were staying on task. Slowly, he made his way towards the large glass wall near the center of the room, stroking his scraggly beard with one large hand. He approached the glass, peering into the room on the other side with his small beady eyes. There was a scientist with a young boy on the other side, some eye exams were set out and the scientist was guiding the boy through them, making notes on the clipboard he carried.

“And what are you guys doing now?” The man asked, waiting for a response as he watched.

“We noticed that he seems to not have 20/20 vision, so we are doing eye exams to possibly get him glasses, sir,” one of the scientists spoke up.

“Very well, I suggest that you hurry up the process,” the man responded, “we need to be moving him to his new home soon, don’t want this to delay that.”

“Of course, sir. we will get the results soon and will try to get whatever is needed to him right away, sir.” the scientist replied, frantically writing in his own clipboard and passing a note to some other scientists who read it and nodded. The man stepped back from the wall and headed to leave, glancing over the scientists work and data as he did so.

“Have a good evening, gentleman. I expect him to be completely ready tomorrow, as we will begin the process of moving him right away in the morning.” The man then promptly left the room, the door swinging to a close behind him.

(Yay, finally got this dang thing finished. It might be a while before the next part is out though, sorry)
