Like A Boyfriend (GreenFlame)

Very short story

Lloyd woke up and say up in his bed. He rubbed his eyes and looked around. Lloyd saw that everybody was still in their beds sleeping. Well, everybody except for Kai. Lloyd looked at the alarm clock and saw that it was 3:35 AM. Kai never got up that early so something must be going on.

Lloyd quietly got out of his bed and left the room. He tip-toed his way through the dark hallways in the search of Kai. Kai was no where to be found in the house so Lloyd decided to look outside. Lloyd peeked through a window to get a look at the outside. Luckily, Kai was outside.

Lloyd quickly went back to the bedroom and got his green hoodie. He put it on and went outside.

Kai turned his head around quickly as he heard the sound of a door opening. He saw that it was Lloyd and quietly said, "Oh, hey, Lloyd."
"Um... Hi?", Lloyd said back shyly. "What are you doing up so early?"
"I woke up and just needed some fresh air that's all.", Kai answered.
"I see... How long have you been out here?", Lloyd asked as he walked up next to Kai
"Don't know. I lost track of time. I'm guessing for a while now?"
"Oh."
"So," Kai began, "What brought you out here?"
"I woke up and saw that you weren't in bed so I went looking for you." Lloyd put his hands in the pockets of his hoodie and looked at the ground. There was a long pause between the two of them.
Kai looked up at the starry sky. "Thanks for coming out here.", Kai quietly said.
Lloyd looked up at Kai and said, "Why are you thanking me for that? Aren't I just making things awkward."
"Yes, but, honestly. It was getting kinda lonely out here. I wanted to talk to at least someone but everyone was asleep."
"You could've just woke me up! I totally would've been okay with it!", Lloyd told Kai cheerfully as he gave him a smile.
"Okay, I'll remember that next time I want to talk to someone... Y'know... I'm actually happy that we're alone together."
Lloyd blushed after that last sentence. "Why?", he asked.
"Well, I like you a lot Lloyd, you're a great friend.", Kai then put his arm around Lloyd. Kai's body was really warm and Lloyd liked it that way.
"Yeah... I like you a lot too..." Lloyd thought that this was his chance to tell Kai about how he feels towards him.

Lloyd has liked Kai for a very long time now. His feelings towards him first started when Kai save Lloyd in that volcano. Lloyd started to get strange feelings towards Kai after that but he always brushed it off, but later on when Lloyd turned older, his feelings towards Kai deepened. Lloyd finally realized that he liked Kai when Kai was helping him up the steps towards the Over Lord. Lloyd knew for a fact that Kai didn't feel the same way as he did for him. But Lloyd just had to get this off his chest, he didn't care if Kai denied him or not, he will still tell him.

"And... When I say I like you a lot too... I don't mean like a friend."
"Oh.... Um... Oh.... You mean like-"
Lloyd interrupted before he could finish," Yeah. Like a boyfriend." Lloyd grabbed Kai's arm that has around his shoulder and took it off him. Lloyd went back inside and Kai just stood there, speechless.

Before Lloyd could close the front door Kai quickly turned around. "Hey, where are you going?", Kai asked.
"To bed. I don't want to make anything anymore awkward tonight. Goodnight, Kai.", Lloyd close the door and went back to the bedroom. He took off his gree hoodie and threw it on the floor next to his bed.

Lloyd looked at the alarm clock, it was now almost 4:00 AM. Lloyd got into his bed and tried to fall asleep, but he couldn't. He felt a bit angry and depressed at the same time. Lloyd didn't know why he felt like that because Kai didn't actually deny him, he just seemed to look a bit awkward with the situation. Maybe that's why Lloyd felt like this. It was because Kai didn't directly deny Lloyd so now Lloyd felt stupid because he made Kai feel so awkward.

Lloyd buried his face in his pillow. Why did I think that was a good idea he thought. Lloyd lifted his head to get some air and turned onto his back. Just then he heard the bedroom door open. He knew that it was Kai so he pretended that he was asleep, but he barely closed his eyes so he could see what Kai was doing.

Kai was heading over to his bed, but before he got in it, he looked at Lloyd. Kai stared at him for a little bit and then went to his bed.

Lloyd closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep. The same thing for Kai. After about 3 more hours the alarm clock went off, causing everyone to wake up. Lloyd slammed the button to turn it off and sat up grumpily. Lloyd suddenly remembered what happened last and put his face in his hands. He then proceeded to groan as all the other ninja gave him strange looks as they got out of bed and left the room. Kai knew the exact reason why he was doing that but no one else did.

Once Jay, Cole, and Zane left the bedroom Kai walked over to Lloyd and sat on his bed. "So... About last night..." Kai began, "Can we.... Y'know... Talk about it?" Lloyd lifted his head from his hands and looked at Kai.
"Look, I thought that if I told you then I wouldn't feel like I had a huge burden on my chest. At first I didn't care if you denied me but now... Now I just feel worst and I don't know why!!", Lloyd was now yelling, causing everybody outside the bedroom to hear and start to eavesdrop.
"Lloyd... I-I didn't exactly know what to say because you know, I'm a guy.... You're a guy... I just didn't think that-"
Lloyd interrupted the sentence and yelled, "Is me being a guy really that bad?!? Would it be better if I was a girl?! Or maybe if you were a girl?!"
"Calm down and let me finish! Look, at first I didn't think it would work out but then I started to think of all the times you were there for me. And I did the same for you. A long time ago I swore to take care of you... And well... I don't just want to take care of you like a friend or like a brother but also like.... Like..." Kai began to blush and Lloyd did the same, knowing what Kai was about to say.
"Like a... boyfriend?", he asked.
Kai smiled and put his arm around Lloyd. "Yeah, like a boyfriend." Lloyd's face was red all over as he looked at Kai's smiling face. Lloyd threw his arms around Kai, causing them both to fall over onto the bed. Lloyd buried his face into Kai's chest as he laid on top of him.
Lloyd then looked up and asked, "Does this mean we're dating?"
Kai gave it a thought for a moment then said, "Definitely."

On the other side of the door, there was Jay, Cole, Zane, and Nya. They were all confused because they didn't hear what Kai's answer was.
"Did he say yes or no?! Zane, you're the nindroid! What did he say?", Jay whispered.
"Definitely. That's what I heard.", Zane answered.
"Be quiet!", Cole demanded as they all listened.

"We should probably leave. The others might be wondering what we're doing.", Kai suggested.
Lloyd laid his head back on Kai's chest and whispered, "They can wait a couple of more minutes." Kai chuckled and then began to run his fingers through Lloyd's hair. Lloyd closed his eyes and smiled slightly. Kai also closed his eyes and they both fell asleep in each other's embrace.

Nya quietly opened the door to see what they were doing. Jay, Cole and Zane poked their heads through the door and looked as well. They saw Kai and Lloyd laying on Lloyd's bed. Nya quietly shooed away the three other ninja and shut the door to leave Kai and Lloyd alone.
