"Still the same address?"
"mm-hmm"
Sunghoon didn't know if the short answer he received was because the younger was tired or if he had given up on being kind to someone like him, and to be honest, Sunoo didn't know the answer himself. At times like this, his mind never seem to work.
The two didn't say a word for the rest of the ride. Somehow, Sunoo expected the atmosphere between them to be less tense, but slowly the uncomfortable wave that reminded him of the library night returned.
It was obvious that Sunghoon owed Sunoo explanations, and Sunoo is still patiently waiting for them. Sunghoon himself knew, he wasn't stupid. But the guy had found solace in avoiding it, and the younger seemed to notice, which is why Sunoo avoids his thought of asking any more questions, whether it's for his well-being or for Sunghoon's.
Sunoo's eyelids grew heavier each time he closed his eyes, yet the guy didn't want to make the situation any more awkward and decided to just hold on a little longer.
Well, he tried, because right after Sunghoon left the parking lot, he felt something heavy on his back. Sunoo had his head resting on Sunghoon's leather jacket, making himself comfortable.
Normally Sunghoon wouldn't mind, but the helmet didn't make it particularly comfortable for him, but the guy decided to put up with it for now.
The ride was calm. For the first time in a while he took it slow and enjoyed the night. He had every opportunity to go fast on the empty road, but for some reason he decided to go surprisingly slow. For whatever reason it was that night.
"God, you're kidding." The rider glanced at the flashing red icon, a cue for him to fill up his bike as soon as possible. Maybe he should have just hurried home after all.
Sunoo awoke to the smell of the engine and bright lights surrounding him, still lying on the leather jacket, this time without the owner underneath. He pulled out his phone and texts from his best friend popped up asking him if he got home safely.
10:47 p.m.
It's been at least twenty-five minutes since he fell asleep. He ignored the messages for the time being and looked around for his friend. A fresh, cold breeze makes him shiver, and at night it slowly gets a little chilly.
Sunoo spotted the older coming out of the 7-eleven in front of the empty gas station with a bottle of water in hand.
"awake?"
"You brought one bottle of water?"
Sunghoon glanced at the bottle he was holding - he wanted to smack it against his own head - before throwing the bottle at Sunoo. The sudden throw and the cold bottle woke Sunoo up a bit.
"Just drink it, gosh."
Sunghoon couldn't help but notice the tip of the other's nose turning a bright shade of pink. He wasn't sure if it was the cold of the night or if he was just shy. Still, the guy was wearing a simple tshirt with shorts, obviously it's going to be at least a little chilly.
On top of that, Sunghoon couldn't afford to make this boy sick and get complaints by his members, or rather Yang Jungwon, for not taking care of Sunoo enough.
"Put on the jacket and let's go home quickly, your mother—" Just shut up, Sunghoon.
"What did you say?" asked Sunoo, seriously, he didn't hear the other guy. Sunoo was even struggling to keep his eyes open.
"Put on the jacket and let's go." He brushed it off.
Just like that, the tension rose again for the rest of the night, well.. it's not like it ever disappeared.
But maybe, just maybe, it wasn't as tense as before.
11:24 PM
Sunghoon collapsed onto his bed after entering his apartment. He had decided to move out after returning to South Korea with his parents and sister. Undeniably, his parents weren't happy with his decision, but Sunghoon was stubborn, for once in his life. His apartment wasn't that big, but definitely not small for one person. As always, he kept the place tidy and in a darker style.
Sure, he had felt lonely for a few nights, but he loved to visit his sister and hang out with his friends after a busy day, to get away from the tiredness and thoughts flying through his head.
The night sky was visible through his large curtains and he couldn't help but stare at them.
Is there a way for us to start over? Can we be strangers again?
Sunghoon ran his fingers through his hair in frustration and slowly went to bed.
*ding-ding.. *
His phone didn't stop ringing. The mate had been feeling the phone vibrating the entire drive home, but decided to ignore the buzz as usual, but he should really check them now.
