Muichiro gazed up at the blue sky, mindlessly counting the white clouds as they slowly passed by. A small smile adorned his face, a distant look in his eyes. At regaining his memories, bitterness lingered in his body, he couldn't wipe off that feeling.

He as well felt guilty for having forgotten his dear memories of his family, the love he had for them was incomparable. So, to have those memories temporarily erased from his memory, it was like a stab at the heart.

All Muichiro could do was regret and ask for forgiveness.

Lost in his thoughts, the Mist hashira didn't realize the quiet footsteps of another. Nervously, the person stopped merely a few inches away from the thoughtful boy and greeted, "Tokito, hey."

Genya shuffled his feet in place, awaiting a response from his superior. He didn't seem to notice the distraught look on Muichiro; only seeing the ghost of a smile, the wind buffeting through his long black curls. Pained, Genya began to believe he was being ignored.

"Tokito? Are you alright?" He asked, nudging Muichiro in hopes to get a response. Alas, he didn't get one, the younger boy only focusing on the sky above. As Genya turned around, stepping forward to walk away, he felt a hand wrap around his wrist, causing him to halt.

Muichiro's face lit up, a beautiful vibe to those blue eyes; it nearly flustered Genya. "Oh! Genya, I didn't notice you there." He offered his sweetest smile to which Genya awkwardly nodded his head to. He wasn't used to seeing Muichiro so.. happy.

He had to admit; Muichiro was absolutely stunning. His smile couldn't compare to another.

"Ah.. no worries, Tokito. I'm sorry for disturbing you." Genya replied, taking the seat beside Muichiro and folded his hands together, nervously playing with his fingers.

Muichiro laughed softly, "There's no need for the formalities, Genya. We are friends after all, aren't we?" He tilted his head to the side, slightly, enough to catch Genya's reaction to such question. A lower ranked slayer friends with the highest rank, a hashira? That must be a joke.

"Um, I guess we are. Although.. you are a Hashira and I'm not." Genya hesitantly replied, looking down at the fresh-green colored grass. For someone who can't use breathing techniques, he was not worthy of his superior's acknowledgement.

He wasn't worth anything.

Muichiro scoffed and waved a dismissive hand, "Labels don't mean anything. You are strong in your own way, give yourself some credit." He turned to smile at his friend, who was busy ogling at the ground. "I saw the way you fought back in the village, with such confidence. I nearly got myself killed back there."

Genya frowned, glaring at particularly nothing. He wasn't angry at Muichiro but at himself. If he had worked harder, or had been born with any talent, he could accept the words said to him. But he can't, Genya sees himself as unfit for any praise.

"Oh please. Like that's believable." Genya snapped unexpectedly, startling the boy next to him. His tone dripped with resentment, and Muichiro could only wonder if he had said something wrong.

"I... I'm sorry if I offended you." Muichiro apologized, confused.

The oldest shook his head and sighed, facing the other. "No. Don't apologize, you didn't say anything to offend me." He assured, scratching the back of his neck with a hand. "It's just a touchy subject, I'm sorry for going off on you like that.."

Muichiro smiled once again, placing his hand on top of Genya's, rising a flustered reaction out of him. He giggled in response and looked back to the orange colored sky, "It's okay. If it makes you feel any better..."

"You're not alone in this. We can help each other move on from the past. Help each other learn how to love and live. I'd like for that to happen."

Genya's heart fluttered as butterflies filled his stomach. How could a beautiful boy like Muichiro want to spend his days with a guy like him? Lord, was he grateful for an opportunity.

An opportunity to love the boy whom he longed for these past few months.

"Yeah.. I think I'd like for that to happen too."
