Mikey awoke with a start. His eyes frantically searching in the dark for something that did not exist. His breathing hitched and he coughed, and was able to breathe once more. He calmed himself and looked around at his room distastefully. He glared at the messy floor before getting out of his bed and sneaking into the kitchen for cleaning supplies without a sound. He grabbed some chemical wipes, cloths, and a trash bag, and snuck back to his room. He put on quiet music in his headphones and began to clean. He wondered if this was weird he is Mikey after all.. "the dumb one" as they say. His eyes narrowed. Why did he have to be the dumb one? He saved his brothers butts all the time! But of course, they never acknowledged that. He rolled his eyes and finished cleaning and looked at his now tidy room with a sense of pride. He snuck back into the kitchen, put the cleaning supplies away, and went back to bed. He fell asleep almost instantly.
Bound to a table, he struggled, kicking around his arms and feet, in hopes that something would come loose enough to slip out of. Unfortunately for him, someone noticed and he was electrocuted. Once. Twice. Again. He looked to his right and there were his brothers, Raph the closest on his right, then Leo on Raph's right and Donnie at the other end. He looked straight ahead again.. this place was completely unfamiliar to him. He looked to the right once more and noticed that Donnie was wearing glasses. Then he felt it. On top of his teeth were metal devices. "Braces" he had heard humans call them once before. How did he get them? How did he even end up here? Everything went fuzzy and he awoke in a cold sweat. A fist pounded on his door.
"Mikey! Wake up already! We're gonna be late for training" a voice growled lowley before he heard footsteps leading away from his door. He sighed, getting out of his bed, he put on his orange bandana, grabbed his nunchucks and walked to the dojo.
He was surprised to see only Leonardo sitting in his place and sat down at his own without a word. He began to meditate.. He could feel eyes on him, so he opened his eyes and realized Donnie and Raph had arrived. Splinter stood up just as Raph and Donnie took their seats. Splinter began to speak, but Mikey couldn't hear him, it was like his voice was being drowned out, but there was no other noise. Somehow, he knew exactly what to do. He stood, his face not moving a muscle, and prepared his his nunchucks. Donnie, still confused and quite frankly, a little worried, slowly got out his bō staff and began to twirl it. Mikey circled him, waiting for an attack. Meanwhile, Leo and Raph just stared in shock. Mikey wasn't smiling. Or moving. Or jumping around, at all. The three brothers shared a thought. They were going to figure out what was wrong with Mikey.
Donnie finally went for an attack and Mikey saw it coming, he quickly dodges out of the way and skillfully used his kurisgama chain to pull Donnie's staff out of his hands and into his own. He snapped the stick in half and continued to circle. He felt a vibration on the floor and looked at Splinter, who had just slammed the bottom of his green walker on the ground.
"Enough."
Mikey and Donnie bowed to each other and Raph came on the floor. He used to always want Mikey to shut up, but now the silence is uncomfortable and uninviting, which annoyed Raph. He readied his sais and charged at Mikey, with no thought of letting him get prepared, Mikey, did a simple side step and got his chain out, he tried to make Raph drop the sais, but Raph was prepared and wrapped his sais around the chain, Mikey let go, knowing that Raph was about to throw the chain over his head. Raph was surprised to see that Mikey didn't go flying with the nunchucks. It only made him more angry that he couldn't defeat Mikey as quickly as he usually could. Mikey got out his other nunchuck and threw it over the tree that loomed above them. Raph merely laughed.
"What are you gonna do? Tangle me in the chain? Goodluck not tangling yourself!" Raph taunted, hoping to get even a facial expression out of Mikey, but he only blinked, narrowing his eyes. Raph charged again and this time, Mikey pulled himself up the kurisgama chain and dropped just behind Raph and quickly knocked him off his feet. Raph hit the floor before he even knew what happened. He recovered quickly, turning towards Mikey, who had his back to Raph and was facing Splinter, this made Raph even more angry. Splinter noticed this and stepped in.
"Michaelangelo will be sparring against Leonardo next."
Leo readied himself and had an empty feeling lurking in his gut. Mikey was not Mikey today. And Leo was going to find out why. But he had to focus on defeating Mikey first, it was strange for Mikey not to be smiling, he wasn't cracking jokes or even moving at all. There was an older and wiser presence and that made Leo uneasy. He exhaled and prepared.
"Hajime" Splinter said and the two brothers began slowly circling each other. To everyone's surprise, Mikey made the first attack, attempting to trip Leo, who did a quick flip to recover from the attack, he swung his sword and Mikey used the chain to stop Leo's blade and the knocked the blade out of Leo's hand. Leo quickly got out the other and did a backflip to create distance between the two. Mikey continued to circle and Leo saw an opening and quickly went for the attack, Mikey must have caught on because just as Leo went in for the attack, Mikey did a front flip over Leo's shell, grabbed his sword and stuck it to the floor. Leo turned around and just looked at Mikey with shock written all over his face. Mikey's face however didn't even twitch as he sat in front of Splinter. The rest of them sat down as well, still not entirely sure what to feel about Mikey's sudden change.
