"how did you two possibly get in a car accident? are you guys okay?"

"we're okay joan, don't worry. i don't think we'll be able to go on the trip though. my mom wants me to stay in bed and jfk broke his leg."

"shit, okay. i'm glad you two are okay. does cleo know?"

"no, i wanted to call you first and i'm scared she'll be mad, do you think you can tell her for me?"

"abe you know she doesn't like me, can you please tell her."

"i need to rest joan, you'll be okay," he said as he hung up the phone.

joan cursed under her breath as she continued on her walk to school. she knew cleo wasn't going to take cancelling the trip very lightly.

as she walked in the building and made her way to her locker, she spotted cleo standing by hers.

"fuck, here we go," she said to herself as she walked towards cleo.

"heyyyy cleo, remember that couples trip we were supposed to go on?"

"you mean the trip i've been excited about for a month now? the trip that we leave for today? yeah, what's up?"

"well, we can't go."

cleo looked a mix of confused and annoyed, letting out a little laugh, "and why not exactly?"

"this morning on the way to school abe and jfk got in a car crash. abe is bed bound and jfk broke his leg."

"alright well i already paid for mine and abe's room, i'm going regardless."

joan couldn't believe cleo would still just go, despite her bf being injured. the more joan thought about it, the more she wanted to go. she had also been really excited to visit miami, and didn't really want to have to reschedule the trip.

"you should still come too. i don't want to get kidnapped, someone will see me next to a gremlin like you and it'll scare them away," cleo said, ripping joan out of her thoughts.

"fine, you're lucky i wanted to still go anyways."

"good, i'll pick you up after school. don't take too long either, i don't want to take too long getting to the aiport."

"yeah yeah i'll be out in time."

the school day went by pretty quickly, up until she got to her last period. at this point she was starting to get really anxious about the whole thing. she was worried about jfk and even more worried that cleo was just going to bully her the entire time, this was supposed to be a fun trip with her boyfriend, but is now looking like it was going to be a nightmare with her enemy.

"what's the prob joan? you look stressed," harriet said, a worried look on her face.

"i'm about to go on a weekend trip with cleo, we were supposed to go with our boyfriends, but they got in a crash this morning and had to cancel."

"oh no! are they okay?"

"yeah they're both okay, i'm just worried about having to spend so much time with cleo. i'm sure jfk would still want me to have fun though."

"i say do it, i think it'll be fun. maybe this will be time for you and cleo to finally bond a little bit and hate each other a little less. it would make being friends with abe easier for you."

"i guess you're right harriet, thank you," she said giving her a hug.

the nerves were really starting to get her at this point, but she decided to not back out. she was so anxious that time was flying by, the walk home went by in a flash.
