Rose grew up knowing nothing other than chores.

Even her name, Rose, was only told by her aunt and uncle when she was 5.

Ever since she was little, Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon would make her wed the garden, cook their food, do the cleaning, and so much more while her cousin Dudley would play video games and eat all day.

It was not fair.

Why was her fate so much worse than her cousins? Why? Just why??

Was this the life that was engraved into the stars?

Even if it was, Rose refused to accept it. She was so much better than this, but there was only so much she could do.

When Rose turned 7, her school teacher discovered her talent for singing and dancing. It was music class and they were required to sing a song, as well as dance to it, in from of the class. If they did it well, they passed for the entire year, if they didn't, they fail.

Her teacher had discovered that she was really good and offered to give her dance classes.

By the time she was 9, Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon would sign her up for dancing or singing competitions for money.

If she won, she would get a small reward of a single candy. If she didn't, she would be starved for 2 days. The Dursleys didn't dare starve her for more than 2 days, or else her body would weaken and she wouldn't be able to win them money anymore.

It was when she was 10, she discovered magic.

She was out tending to the garden when she accidentally killed the petunias.

Uh oh, thought Rose, Aunt Petunias's gonna kill me.

The thought of Rose locked into a cupboard for 2 days without food was not appealing, but, when she looked down again, the petunias were blooming happily as if nothing happened.

"Girl, what is it?!" screamed Aunt Petunia, "Why aren't you working? Did you destroy something again?"

Rose quickly shook her head and pretended to go back to work.

What was that?

Could she do it again?

She pulled a flower from the ground and smashed it. The cupped it into her hand and thought, bloom again. When she opened her cupped hands, there it was, a flower in full bloom.

It wasn't witchcraft, no, she was not one of those ugly witches.

It wasn't sorcery, no, sorcery was full of rituals and stuff, stuff she didn't know.

So it must be magic.

She had magic.

She was meant for so much more.
