Another War

"Why is it taking so long?" wondered Rose, sitting nervously in the waiting room. She just had to pass her exams to know in which section she was getting affected. One of her legs was shaking, she just stared at the floor, telling herself a million things about what was happening in the room next to her.

She just wished that someone could be there, waiting with her, but no, she was the only candidate waiting for that. The silence filling the room was heavy, she could even hear the click of the clock, hearing each second pass. The silence broke by the door opening, Rose glanced rapidly at it, seeing two men who gestured to her to approach. As she entered the room, she sat down in front of the desk, staring at both men who seemed a bit disappointed.

"So... where am I going?" Rose asks nervously, She wants to leave as quickly as possible.

"You didn't pass any of the exams." One of the men says, looking dissatisfied at Rose.

"I... didn't pass? I did wrong on both exams?" Rose sighed, She couldn't believe it... Well, she could understand she would fail at least one exam, but both? She was confused and a bit sad that her performance was so awful.

"It's not possible...? Is it? I mean. No. I supposed other people already failed the test right?" She tried to reassure herself, a bit in a panic, unsure of what would happen to her.

The men look at each other and sigh. "We must admit, it didn't happen for a long time. Often People have enough potential for the scientist branch, or are fit to follow the training to become soldiers." They told her. She wasn't a common case, making it even more awful to live.

"So... where am I going then?" Rose started to look anxious about her situation.

"We are quite surprised that you failed the exam for the scientist branch. With your father's job, it should have been easy for you." Remark one of the men, eyeing Rose, with that same disappointed look.

"Well I never really listen a lot to what he says." Rose chuckles nervously, They were true and it was a shame, her dad wouldn't be proud of her right now.

She took a deep breath and looked around, trying to distract herself so she could calm down a bit.

"We will put you into the soldier section."

Rose's eyes open wide while hearing this. The soldier section? Really? She could have easily studied more so she could be worth joining the other section, but she couldn't stop wondering why she would join the Soldier.

"May... I ask why?" Her voice was a bit shaky, holding tight her skirt.

"Even if your Titan is undetermined for now, the person who tested you says it was probably a Beast or a Jaws Titan, those are better for fighting."

"I see..." She simply looks down, knowing that now her fate was sealed.

"Your room is ready, Welcome to the Warriors." One of the men says with a smile, but Rose still can't believe what she just heard.

Some keys slid to her from the desk, and she looked at the men who threw them at her. She quietly took them and got up from her seat.

"Thank you." She almost whispered, before leaving the office and the waiting room.

Walking in the hallways, she looked at her keys, before sitting down on the floor, still processing what was happening right now to her. She wasn't made to be a soldier and she knew it. But it was too late now. She wondered what she could have done differently during the exams to have a different result but it's over now. It was decided. It was hard for her, she took a little moment for herself. Letting the accumulated stress escape her body, sobbing a bit on the floor like she got the worst news of her life because, in a way, it was. When she calmed down, she wiped the tears on her cheeks. Looking at her phone to check her look, rearranged her hair and took deep breaths, hoping to look natural. She continued her walk until she arrived at the Soldier District. Once there, she got a bit lost. Wandering in the hallways, she caught a glimpse of a young man. He was pretty tall and had a bun. She moved toward him, hoping he would help her.
