Gabriella POV
With a sigh I let myself fall face first onto my newly built couch in my new living room. Moving was definitly not my favourite activity. But it was worth it since I was now finally able to say that I owned my own house!
I must have been laying there for a few minutes until my phone started ringing, making me sigh once more. I rolled around onto my back while taking my phone out of my pocket.
Mike my agent was calling me.
"Hey Mike.", I said, staring up at the white ceiling.
"Hey there how's the move coming along?", he questioned in his usual chirpie tone. I always wondered how this man was always so happy.
"Actually the last builders who set up my furniture just left my house so all that's left to do is unpack a few more boxes." I smiled to myself and looked around my living room that, except for a few pieces of furniture, still looked quite bare.
"That's amazing to hear! So is it possible that you could swing by my office on monday? I have a few bookings that came through for you and you won't be able to do every single one of them so I thought we should sort through them and see what you want and don't want to do.", Bookings started to come in more and more which was very exciting. It meant I was doing my job right!
"Yeah sure I can do that.", I smiled once again while looking back at my ceiling. After a bit more smalltalk me and Mike said our goodbyes and hung up.
I stayed on my sofa a few more minutes to scroll through instagram. Seeing my friends all post about the exciting stuff they're doing, since it's a friday evening, made my smile drop a bit. I wasn't an insanely outgoing person and I enjoyed my quiet alone time a bit too much. Sometimes I really wished I had someone who made it esier for me to just go out and have fun, but everytime some of my friends invite me it's a disaster.
Most of the time I need to plan ahead to make sure I actually have time to go out and since I'm not a heavy drinker I'm mostly the designated driver for some of my friends. So I spend most of my night out watching over them to make sure they're okay.
I love my friends so it's not that big of a deal to me but sometimes I wish someone would look out for me while I get drunk for once.
I shook my sad thoughts out of my head and began to unpack the rest of my boxes.
*time skip*
"Emily I still think this isn't the best idea.", I mumbled as she pulled me towards the club. "Yes Ella it is trust me! You need to finally get a guy even if it's just for a night, everytime I see you I can almost smell how stressed you are.", Emily laughed and with that we were already at the door showing our ID.
Emily is always nagging me about finally finding a boyfriend and is currently dragging me on a blind date. She said she met a guy about 3 weeks ago and he has a friend who's also single and looking for a partner.
"I don't think a club is a good place for a first date don't you think?" I asked her as I was following her to the bar. Personally I would have enjoyed to just stay at home and either do some creative writing or watch a movie but Emily here had other plans for me.
"Jesus Ella! Just relax for once! Everybody goes out to clubs and meets people there. And I'm sure the guy is nice enough." I could only let out a sigh as Emily ordered her first drink of the night. Even tho she was the one that drove us here I'm sure I'll be the one driving us back home.
"Hey there Emily!" big arms curled themselves around Emilys curvy body and a smile spread on her face. "Ah hey Matt there you are!" She turned around and immediatly gave him a passionate kiss. Didn't she say she only met this guy 3 weeks ago?
"So you must be Gabriella right?" this Matt guy turned to me and I could only nod my head. He streched one of his arms out to his side and patted another guy on the back who was currently looking out onto the dancefloor with a hungry look in his eyes.
The guy turned his head to me and planted a smirk on his face. He wasn't bad looking but definitly not someone I'd go after. He had blonde hair that was styled to perfection, nice tan skin, bright blue eyes and I could see that he was built quite well under that skin tight shirt.
"Hey there cutie I'm Alex." he held his hand out for me and I reached out to shake it until he grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him. "Come on let's dance and not stand around all night." His mouth was too close to my ear which made me cringe but I let him drag me to the dancefloor anyways.
I wasn't the best dancer and this Alex guy was constantly trying to pull me closer which didn't make it easier for me. He didn't even seem bothered that I hadn't said a single word since we met. Since the music down on the dancefloor was louder than at the bar I motioned with my hands that I was going to get a drink.
Alex smiled at me and grabbed my hands, dragging me to the bar. Once we were there I let out a sigh and placed myself on one of the barstools. "So you enjoying yourself so far?" Alex was standing close to me and was looking out for the bartender I assume. "Ehm sure." was all I could push out. Was I enjoying myself tho?
After we ordered our drinks I turned my attention back to my date only to find him staring down at the dancefloor again. "You can keep dancing if you want I might call it a night soon anyways." when he heard me speak he looked back at me and flashed me a big smile that almost looked fake. "No no no I'm not gonna leave my date all alone at the bar. What if some other dude comes along and snatches you away from me?" he laughed and grabbed his drink that finally arrived.
"So tell me something about you, what are you into?" I at least wanted to try and give this guy a chance. "Ah you know I love the gym, I go there like every day. Every weekend with me is a party I promise you that. Most clubs around here already know me which means free drinks for me and my friends." after the last sentence he shot me a wink and I had to fight back a cringe. Great sounds like another guy I'd have to watch over and drive home if we became friends or more.
"And what do you do for work?" I asked him more questions since after all this was supposed to be a date and I'd like to get to know my date. "I don't really have a job currently but I'm planning on becoming a fitness model, so when my friend told me he knows a chick whos friend is a model I just had to say yes to this opportunity." With that my slight smile on my face dropped.
I constantly have to deal with people wanting to get to know me to also get into the business. And it seemed that Alex was no different. I was snapped out of my thoughts when Alex placed his hand on my exposed thigh, close to my skirt. "So how about we take this somewhere more quiet then." The look on his face told me he was very sure of himself but I knew the disappointment on mine was very clear.
I excused myself to the bathroom, thankfully he let me go, and tried to find Emily on the dancefloor instead. Thankfully I found her quickly dancing not with Matt but with a different guy instead. "Emily let's go home." I shouted over the loud music and she started pouting at me. "Whyyyy are you not having fun?" she was slurring her words which only made me sigh.
Without another word I grabbed her arm and dragged her out of there with me. I managed to get her car keys out of her bag and started driving her home. It was a hassle getting her into bed but after I finally managed that I put her keys on her kitchen counter and started the 10 minute walk back to my house.
Thankfully after my move I was closer to her apartment now.
Once I was inside my warm home again I immedietly took off my shoes and dragged myself into the bathroom to take off my makeup and have a quick shower. I stared at my reflexion in the big mirror while wiping my face and couldn't help but sigh again.
Why was it so hard for me to find someone that I can trust completely? Someone who will love me for who I am and not for my career? Was there something wrong with me? Am I the real issue here?
