The thing about humans is that you can always count on them to do something utterly stupid.

I was minding my own business down in Hell when all of a sudden, a portal appeared out of nowhere and sucked me into this world. There, an old priest shouted in fright and did the sign of the Holy Cross, which I absolutely abhorred him for doing. He ran off, called the police, where they then took me to their headquarters and locked me up in a cell.

First thing they probably thought when they saw me was 'why is her hair white?', or something more like 'what's wrong with her eyes?'.

The answers to those questions... they will never know.

Time passed; the humans ran in and out, answering calls for help everywhere and anywhere in the city. Their pathetic lives were wasted on serving others instead of themselves. It's utterly pathetic. While they were out wasting their lives away, I was stuck sitting in a damp and dark cell with no one to keep me company but the shadows in the small room. They whispered to me, telling me of the humans and where they kept their keys, the exact same ones that could open my cell.

The shadows are my only friends. They didn't leave me for something else when I was in need of company, after all.

But the problem was getting the keys to open my cell.

Even then, how would I be able to find my way out?

Years in this cell haven't done anything to my physical state, which stayed exactly as it had been for a millennia. However, perhaps some minimal psychological damage had been done.

Nothing serious, I can assure you.

Anyone who has stayed in a cramped cell, dark and damp, for as long as I have would most likely go crazy.

But I'm not just anyone. I'm not even human.

For years, I have waited to reach out to someone who might be able to bend under my temptation, but so far, nobody has come. I knew it was inevitable. No one would want to help me. They probably had their guesses of what I was and where I came from. Judging by the context and the priest, their guesses were probably more like assumptions, which were presumably correct.

I hate humans. They're the worst, all while they think they are the best. I wished that somebody outside the police would help me get out of here. I would be willing to give them anything they desired in order to get me out of this cell.

Whatever it took; it didn't matter what.

The humans will pay for locking me up like some animal, and one day, I know that my call for help will be answered.

Not a prayer, though. A wish.

Which is rare for a demon like me.

After all, dreams don't come true for demons.
