I gripped tightly to the bush l was clinging from on the mountain cliff. I could hear death call for me on the hard rocks below me. Just one mistake at this moment could send me crumbling down the mountain to my last breath. If only l could stretch my other hand a little more further, l could possibly touch the rough surface above my head and pull myself to safety. The more l tried to reach out, the more l strained my other arm ,and it could only be a few minutes before l grew tired and finally slipped off. The feeling of regret started to build up inside my chest, wishing l had never even tried to come out here.

Now, before l go any further , l need to catch you up on why and how l even ended up getting myself on the verge of death. And an introduction of course. I answer to the name Victoria Ruby. Being an 18 year old teenager with two parents who worked for the secret spy agency might have lit my desire to become a spy too. Of course they did not want me to follow that path since they viewed their professions as too dangerous, but regardless of their fear for my safety, l still managed to train to become one behind their backs.

Undoubtedly, l did receive help with my training from some of my friends from the secret spy agency. These were friends which my parents certainly did not know about. Unknowingly, they had raised a very secretive and cautious child, just like them. l did feel bad about hiding the truth from them, but my desire to become just like them was something l couldn't ignore. I wanted them to be proud of me. Sadly, they went missing about a year ago.

The SSA (Secret Spy Agency) had looked for them the past year but to no avail. They had last been heard from when they went on what seemed like a simple mission to stop an illegal dealer who dealt in dangerous weapons to never returning at all. The SSA finally concluded that they were dead and had immediately stopped the search operation. I grieved their absence for a long time. I was helpless. Nothing could seem to fill up that hole in my heart, especially every morning when I woke up and came back to the realization that they were gone. I even stopped training and had no desire to do anything else.

The SSA had offered to take me in and have me stay with them at the headquarters, but l preferred our house. They assigned some of their spies to watch over me since they thought whoever had caused my parents disappearance would come for me, and it started to feel like a prison. I felt suffocated and all l wanted was to see my parents again. I needed them. And l missed them.

As more days passed, the SSA finally decided to send me to live with my grandparents who lived in my father's hometown near the coast. As l was packing to leave and go to my grandparents' house, I decided to finally enter my parents room after so long to get some of our framed pictures and maybe some documents. l had avoided entering their room since their disappearance because l was filled with so much pain and couldn't bring myself to be in their room without them in it too. Little did l know, entering their room would set me on an unexpected dangerous adventure.
